I was watching Austin Powers last night and couldnt take my eyes of Mr. evils hairless cat. I know this is a stupid topic but i am curious. I want to know what everybody thinks of hairless cats and would you buy one? Also, id like to hear from anybody who might own one or who knows somebody who does. What are their temperaments like etc...?

I personally find them weird but funky. I dont know if i would buy one though. I am allergic to cats so the lack of hair would be good for me but the thought of picking it up all the time with all that skin, i dont know...

The only breed of hairless cats I've ever seen are the breed "sphynx". They may be the only one of the hairless breeds left in existence today? I attend a yearly cat show and seen quite a few of them. They are as you said funky. Although they're supposed to be exoctic? I don't find them very appealing to see IMO.

The temperments can very according to the owners at the cat shows. Some are down right mean. Hard to believe given their size. One lady had to have hers locked up all the time. Gee sort of takes the fun out of it.

The skin is very smooth, almost like a satin feel. The cats are solid so it wouldn't be like the skin was all wrinkling all over. They're just bald that's all.

If you go for one be prepared to spend big bucks. The minimum starting price for these cats is 1K + and then it goes up from there. Depends on the breed and the line they were mated with.
