Based on this, idk how accurate it is because it's eforms, but uhhh yeah you're not gonna go on vacation and lose your home lol. Pretty much every single citation on there says at least 10 years.

I've been around a LOT of service members and have NEVER heard a story like that. Ever. I've literally worked on a base, had a parent with a 20+ year career in it, been around alllllllllllllllll kinds of them, never heard that. Not saying it can't or doesn't, but I guarantee you the number is stupid low. What you DO hear is that their wives cheat on them or they cheat on their wives.click to expand

Squatters usually take over empty houses that are for sale. It's unusual to do it when someone is on vacation.
They will take over an empty house and change the locks. People will buy the houses and not have access to them and then need to go to court to get the people out, but the squatters have rights. I don't understand it myself.
Some squatters even end up owning empty houses if they are vacant for too long.
Typical America, where you can just walk up and claim something and now it's yours! smh

Yeah in reality what is happening is people are loosing their homes to foreclosure and then being deemed as 'squatters' once the bank takes possession. Or having their rent be raised 40-200% and being unable to pay... become 'squatters' and face forced evictions by the slum lord.
For the large corporations who are buying up mass properties, leaving them empty and derelict to drive down neighboring home prices in order to buy those up (its a common predatory practice here in our capitalist utopia) and obtain some squatters along the way, I feel no sympathy.

I have an alarm system on my house and cameras everywhere.
No one can take habitat of my house if I don’t want them to.
I do know of two guys who squatted for over a year in a house and I would think how lucky they were to not have to pay rent. But then you’re at the mercy of the Sheriff.

Btw all squatters rights are is saying you can't remove people from your property by force aka violence. You need to go through the proper legal channels. Basically acknowledging the value of human life over property, a rare W for America.

Eviction typically only takes 30-45 days here in ca where we have some of the strongest protections in place for squatters/tenants. So idk where you are getting your information.
Now if you threaten, use violence, or in other ways do illegal criminal actions against your squatters and tenants then absolutely the process for eviction will take longer. As it should because fuck you for being a massive ass.

I just discovered that there is such as thing as squatters rights in america. Home owners go on vacation, they come back
only to discover somebody lives there. And they can end up in jail if they remove them from their property. Just the thought
of finding strangers in my home makes me raging. Have you ever experienced something like that? That is fucked up.
This is also in Spain. It's the strangest thing really.. like whatever happened to contracts?!
