Oh my word at the whole thing. Didnt know Romanians were so superstitious & their superstitions are so similar to ours except for the samca + the strigoaicele. Both I find very creepy, btw.

Thanks for making this thread. Now I have something new to read about.

quite interesting are the burial and mourning traditions throughout the balkan. chopped off heads put between the legs/by the feet. boiled hearts and other organs. bodies laying face-down in the coffin etc.

it's more prevalent in romania, bulgaria but also part of former yugoslavia specially in serbia. serbia is known for their own brand of vampirism.

Thats funny!-).I never heard of it!
Actually they do something else:they take out the dead person from the grave and stick a iron stick in his heart(only if the person is a poltergeist).In south of Romania happens a bit-)

speaking of creepy forests.....suicide forest of japan.....

DO NOT watch it; if you are easily disturbed. DO NOT click it; partially graphic content.

I'll click 😄 The Japanese are weird. I read about this mom who attempted to drown herself & her two kids after finding out about her husband's mistress. Apparently, its an honourable thing to kill yourself by Japanese culture. It has a name too but I forgot what its called 🙂 Anyway, the mom was saved but both kids drowned. She was arrested & was angry at the people that saved her life, saying "they were probably white" for if they were Japanese they would have respected that she wanted to die & would have allowed her to drown herself. Weird shit I have ever heard. Some cultures!

@Nem. Yeah, harakiri! Dankie 🙂

Anyway we also have "primitive" rituals for the dead, like talking to them (the soul) & explaining every step of the process...up until the funeral. They spend the day before the funeral at home & have relatives telling them what messages to give to the ancestors.

I think its beautiful because western burials seem cold to me. I cant even imagine having a relative thats cremated & have the ashes scatterd at sea, etc. Its odd. A burial site is what keeps them "alive" in a way. Like, they are there, their bones...its like having them around when you can see their final resting place.

"Five people have recently died one after another in our small community, one hanging himself," said Miodrag Vujetic, a local municipal council member. "This is not by accident."

Umm not by accident, my dear Miodrag... but by suicide! Lmao, the level of stupidity, and all because us Balkan folks skipped the Renaissance.

yea this forest is quite famous..or infamous..
there are lots of ghost spots in japan.. and back in a while, I created a thread about some strange japanese customs of dyeing one's tooth black in the past and also conjectured as in why there seem to be lots of ghostlores exist in britain and japan, those two island countries..
