I don't think we're all gonna magically or tragically disappear in Dec. 2012. Hell, the same groups that have been right in past predictions have also been wrong just as many times
I am open-minded to the fact though that there are possibly other species out there. Maybe they know about us, maybe they don't.
Either way, if they do know about us, I don't think their intention is to hurt us like the media/movies portray. If that's the case, wouldn't they have done it already? Especially since we automatically assume that if there are actually other species, that they're somehow naturally more advanced than us?!
If they're already more advanced than us, that means their resources are stronger/greater than ours, thus it makes no sense to assume that if they could actually hurt us that they haven't done it already
Space is pretty intriging though. It's amazing & yet skeptical that all these scientists (and their equipment) have NEVER been to half of the planets, galaxies, etc. that they claim to know so much about.
