Reality TV Aftermath

Just watched the airing of a show that my friends were on.

The extent that producers go to is crazy. I mean, you hear about it and all that, but to know people who are telling you what's really going on, as well as witnessing it... Was pretty interesting.

Some of it they weren't surprised by, but it was met with a lot of frustration since they were doing things on purpose to make her cry, all for camera reactions. The show was promising them things and then backing out last minute, leaving them scrambling for the promised items.

However, I think the end result of the show is what's crazy. She's gotten her account suspended for 24 hours because some crazed fan of the show reported all of her pictures. He's getting death threats. And this is just hours after it aired tonight. All because of how the producers portrayed the show. And why they're taking it out on these two is beyond me since they were not shown as the main antagonist that WOULD get such backlash.

I mean, I thought it was kinda common knowledge that reality shows are scripted and pasted together to portray something entirely different than what actually happened?

I feel bad for them because they went in on this, wanting to get a wedding that they were saving up for. Despite all the bs involved, it ended up being really nice. But now to have people harass them and there's death threats? Jesus Christ, people are fucking looney tunes over their reality tv. :/ I wouldn't be surprised by the harassment and the nasty comments, but death threats? Gawd. I watch it for entertainment value, but the last thing on my mind is hunting these people down and sending them shitty messages and trying to shut down their Facebooks.

Dannng! I feel bad for your friends. I've always said, give me the money. keep the fame.

I've gotten away from reality shows. Once I realized the producers were pretty much orchestrating things to go a certain way for ratings, I was turned off. They treat the viewers like chumps and they sure as hell don't give a damn about the people on the shows.

Hopefully the hoopla dies down soon and they'll feel like it was worth it in the end.

Yeah, it's been pretty crazy. They had no idea they'd get this kind of response. So much hate being spewed by random strangers. The theme of the wedding itself was semi risque, but it doesn't warrant this type of response. It's just a freaking wedding show. Wtf?

The producers were lame. They were waaay behind and made all of us wait outside for 2 hours while they finished up inside. They were even trying to set up one of my friends to add more drama during the reception.

And to top it off, the wedding planner wrote a blog, lying about several things that happened, which just added fuel to the fire. The poor bride has been responding, defending herself.

It's all sorts of craziness.

Yeah. We've been trying to defend them but people are so freaking stupid and buy into the bullshit.

Whatever.

I just feel bad for them that they went into it, expecting x,y, and z, but they got a,b,c because OH BTW WE'RE CHANGING FORMATS!

They signed the contract, thinking they were getting what they'd seen in the past (also knowing of an experience of a friend of theirs)- everything paid for, minus the tuxedos. Ceremony, reception, dress, rings, all that. But then it was an entirely different story when shooting began.

They waited til the last minute with her dress. It turned out great, but the bride and my friend wanted to add more crystals to it. The producers insisted that they do it, refusing to let my friends do it. They never did, so the extra crystals never got added.

They backed out on the rings last minute, forcing them to grab something off of QVC to tide them over for the wedding, they picked ugly, stupid dresses to get a reaction out of her, etc. They were also getting cheap with a lot of things. Their funding has been cut and chances of the show being cancelled is high.

Overall, the wedding, reception, and dress all panned out. Everyone had fun and they got their purdy wedding.

However, the emotional bs caused by the producers during shooting and then this crazy aftermath... wow.

The dress she was married in was nicer than the red latex one, I thought.

Haha, it was. I gotta ask if that dress was for real or if it was something that the show wanted. When they had been accepted for the show, their goal was to be married in October with a Halloween type themed wedding, last I'd heard. I'm not sure if they'd gotten as far as picking out a dress yet or what.
