I don't see why people are so afraid of them. They don't have slimy skin, their skin is actually pretty dry and soft to touch. Usually when I see a snake or any other reptile that maybe poisonous or not (There's only two species of lizard that are poisonous and both live in the Southwest) I don't kill them. I just take a shovel or stick and put them into a bucket or basket and I take em out to the woods and release them. A few months ago during the summer I about stepped on a Copperhead and when I saw it, it was sleeping strangely near my car. I went to my neighbor borrowed his shovel and scooped him into a bucket and took him/her out to the woods and put them in the creek. I'm glad I did that. To me snakes are a sign of good health and healing and it'd be some bad mojo to kill one. When I think about it I can't really bring myself to kill any reptile or bird, reptiles because of their semblance to health and their semblance to cautiousness and protection from the unseen things in life. And birds I just can't kill them because of their relation to dinosaurs (It's like killing a unicorn with a bomb) and one incident so many years ago threw me on a guilt trip. Maybe if I was being threatened but I'd try to make it as quick as possible. Why do people fear snakes and have you ever felt this remorse or form of care for them?
