Mmm, never had a summer holiday. Over the summer I do, hang clothes on the line, pick mulberries, black raspberries, peaches, plums, concord grapes. Some go into jellies and jams. I like to hit the local strawberry picking farm and come home with about 30 pounds of them to preserve and freeze. No garden this year, but there will be run off from others to put up later. I put on my suit and the kiddos and I go to the lake and swim all afternoon, get a rotten burn and cook out or eat food from the cooler I packed. I walk with my dog, I walk without my dog. Straight out of town into the country where I drool over a brick beast of a house next to a pond. I wait for thunderstorms to ease the heat of the day and take delight in lightening bugs. Cricket song. Swat mosquitoes while I weed my flower beds. I have coffee with my father, visit my mother as often as I can. Wear the thinnest nighties possible and try to sleep when it's so hot you can't breathe. And I wait for autumn.
Me too. 🙂 Nothing finer. That smell of earth and ozone in the air, the whip of lightening and thunder growling. Let the rain pour down. Go streaming out into the outdoors like a shot and play in it.
Huss little babay don't you cry.
