I'm dog-sitting for an aunt for 2 months. A yappy ass Pomeranian, 9 months old.

I love her to bits, but it's only been a week and I feel like I'm breaking down from the exhaustion.

She wakes up to feed at 5:00 am and won't just eat the food from the bowl. She will only eat if we hand feed her like a freaking goat. Kibble by kibble.

Then every 2-4 hours, 24/7, she has to be taken on a walk to relieve herself, since we have no yard. Except she doesn't know how to walk on a leash properly, so we have to bribe her every 5 steps we walk. that gets exhausting at 3 in the morn while already sleep deprived.

Now I feel like my head isn't all there, feel spaced out at work, and am coming down with a cold. Hub is exhausted too.

I love the dog, and so does my husband, but how do people physically do this for 15+ years?

I tried more caffeine, but that's not sustainable for the next 6 weeks, much less years and years.

HALP.

This is why I tell people not to get small Dogs.. may as well get a cat, it would be a lot easier. Big dog or go home. Sorry I don't know what to tell you on this one.. I don't know how to tire it out which is seemingly what you need. Never dealt with any of this with my dog :/ I am sorry, it doesn't sound like a good time at all 😢
She also has separation anxiety issues. If we're both away for even a moment, she goes really crazy. But she cries a bit even if my husband is out the house. I think she likes him more, which only adds insult to injury :s

you are right, big dogs for me please! I want a dog I don't have to have constant anxiety about accidentally crushing because she's always underfoot.

It's not because its a small dog. It's cause the owner is an idiot who never set boundaries with their dog.

I heard somewhere that to prevent small dog syndrome, you have to treat them like they're a German Shepherd
