Native Austinite here born and raised and still here. If you take COC's advice go to Kruez in Lockhart or go further down to Luling and visit their City Market BBQ. If you want local Austin BBQ they'll tell you Franklin's (yawn) but La Barbecue is better. Also you might like the ambiance of Lambert's which is also pretty good bbq.

You must and I mean this ... gotta try Gordoughs! Their burgers and donuts are delicious. You'll need need to walk that off so visit our Zilker Park or go shopping on Congress.

Night life, definitely go to Rainy street for a laid-back vibe or to dance the night away my favorite area the Warehouse District! Most of the best dance music is there in the gay clubs. Or check out legendary 6th street but please stay away from dirty 6th. It's a bad area. Try to stay in the center or west side of it.

Hope I helped some.

Try Groupons lots of ideas there, food wise andy's ice cream, torchys tacos, pot bellys, the doman in austin shopping and food is good, barton creek mall shopping, 6th street just walk through to see the entertainment and keep moving to warehouse district super fun, there is an underground bowling ally somewhere, san marcos river riding bring your own beer tho, don't really go East Austin lol round rock outlet better than san marcos to me. Can't think of anything else, but have a good time!

Austin is quite boring honestly. You gotta create your own fun.
No problem there. I'm an outdoors person so the landscape appeals to me.

And the food!!

I never been to austin (or texas, or usa), but what I would do in a foreign place, if I am there for at least a few days - find a bar or pub, which appeals to you, go there constantly, like go there in 10 am, sit at the bar, and be there for the wee hours......drink and chat with the local people, do this for 2-3 days straight and you will have lots of fun, going to places later with the local people, they will show you everything

my idea, anyway 🙂 🙂
