I wouldn't write it off as "safe."

My friends are into vaping. One has developed a coughing problem and he uses it heavily.

As an alternative to smoking and weaning off of a nicotine addiction? Yeah, cool story.

But the medical community hasn't deemed this entirely as "safe." We don't know what those chemicals/dyes will do to the body long term when inhaled in vapor form. Nevermind the types of fiber used when the coils burn- some are using synthetic cottons, so that's extra chemical goodness going on up in there.

There has been some links to respiratory issues, but it's such a new thing that nobody really knows the long term yet- just like with cigarettes- decades after long term use, they discovered all the harmful effects of smoking on the lungs.

I'd looked into a lot of this when I noticed my friend was suddenly having coughing fits all the time. Turns out this sudden craze isn't exactly as safe as everyone assumes. I think I read somewhere that when compared to cigarettes, it's a good way to wean off of them, but as a replacement? Could be just as damaging as cigarette smoke- solely because of all the chemicals in the liquids used. People don't think much harm in inhaling a water vapor, but they don't think about what's IN the vapor and how it'll affect something like the lungs/bronchi.

"Lesser of two evils."

Wow, I forgot about the formaldehyde that can be produced if they're heated too much. Some people are turning this into a hobby and try to tweak their vapes into some amazing glory thing.

Formaldehyde? 0___0

Jeeez.

Yeah, I was thinking along the line of the 'lesser of two evils' ... lol

Thanks for all the information, Rocky-- I appreciate it. 🙂

I just started vaping about 3 weeks ago. Tried switching totally from cigarettes to vaping but after a week of that I realised I missed the flicking of ash and the burning sensation in my chest while smoking. So I did a restart and am doing a gradual switch.

I think yes, in the initial stage it's a great way to wean off smoking, but will probably be just as damaging in the long run. I only puff when I need a nicotine fix, I can't puff for more than 5 minutes cos it dries my throat right up.

Good for short boost, not for long hauls.

Nice!

I wonder if the nicotine delivery is a little different.

I tried an e-cig once, and it went right to my head... which was great, but too much at once makes me

feel like garbage after a minute.

Thanks for the input-- sounds pretty good, so far. 🙂

It depends on what they put in there. There are varying levels of nicotine in the juices. My friend can't do any juices with high levels of nicotine because it's immediate coughing for him.

Maybe the type of juice could be why it went straight to your head?

Vaporizers are things that you "vape" weed out of. E-cigs are things that you vape nicotine out (and also weed now, too). As e-cigs got more popular, different style s came out. As the community grew, many non-cigarette smokers started using them as a style statement (hipsters). To differentiate themselves from dirty "smokers" they called themselves "vapers". They also started calling e-cigs vape pens.

What your friend has in the picture is a tank e-cig. Because it looks less like a cigarette than the classical style , people especially started to refer to it as a vape pen, and then just vaporizer. But the terms e-cig and vaporizer are interchangeable.

That's what I wanted to know! lol

I was thinking they may be different.

Tank e-cigs smoke the same as the classical kind. They use the exact same vape liquid, and work by the same mechanisms. The only differences are how they look and how you load the liquid. I daresay there's less difference between a tank e-cig and a classical one then between a blunt and a joint. I've "vaped" for years, and have had several models of both style s. If you had me close my eyes and put one in my mouth, I wouldn't be able to tell you which I was smoking.

vape pens have gotten more popular because there's LESS cotton in them, so when you run out of liquid, it doesn't immediately taste burnt. People also sometimes think that they taste better and produce more vapor, but this isn't true. It depends on brand or model. It depends even more on the nicotine content in the juice.

As far as the healthiness of e-cigs, everyone has covered that nicely. It's MOST likely more healthy than traditional smoking, but no one knows very much about long term effects.

Analog smokes will always be better cause you don't JUST get addicted to the nicotine. I go through periods where I smoke e-cigs and not regular smokes and I always kind of crave the arsenic.

Heh... I srsly appreciate the detail.

I think you answered everything.

Thanks. 😄

I tried 20mg once...damned thing gave me rashes straight away. Now I just do 12mg. So maybe your friend did something more than 12 lol.

He can't do 6 and above, which is pretty high for him. 12 and 20 is craziness. I think he sticks to 0-2 or something haha.

Ive been vaping for a year now...ive had no problems and still on 18mg nic level (my choice plus I could stop all together right now if I wanted compared to reg cigs where I HAD to have one every hour or so)..I havent touched a reg cig since then and dont plan to. I can breathe better, dont get out of breathe like I used to, no coughing like I was starting to develop, that feeling like there is crap in the back of your throat that you cant seem to cough up is gone....my doc says my lungs sound better. Yeah there are still a lot of unknowns about vaping but I think ill cont to take the risk.

I think some people who develop respiratory issues with vaping might be because of some type of allergic reaction to pg,vg or both...which is used to make most juices. I use/d 80% pg 20% vg and have no issues but one of my friend (who still smokes reg cigs a lllllot) coughs everytime he tries to use mine. I recently changed my percentages to see if there was a difference...so now I have 65% pg/35% vg...he still coughs with that. Im not saying this is a def but more of a theory as to possibly why.

Cool story, bro.

I think we'll leave those conclusions to the medical professionals.

I think your panties are cutting the circulation off from your balls...maybe you should ask a medical professional about that 😉
