where I live you park on the street
and so far this is the second car a neighbor has hit.One used my last car
to judge the distance. She would hit my bumper then know she was close enough
then pull up a bit.I caught her and she said how am I supposed to know how close
to get if I don't hit your car first.
Its not like I cause any damage. She
finally broke the headlight and denied it.They have no money and no car insurance.
Now new people moved in next door to her and this morning my new car is damaged on the back bumper, paint scraped off mine and black paint from their car . they also had the nerve to
ask why I don't mow their lawn after all
I'm out there anyway and they don't have a lawn mower.Of course they have 2
SUVs.Neighbors can drive you up a wall.
Looking to move to a tropical island.

I'm not jealous of America, sorry Romeclone. I would like to come and have a look though. Sabrinas neighbours sound like they belong on the Jerry Springer show, maybe that's why Lawgoddess said what she did.

Anyway, to answer the original question... Sabrina, park your car further down the road or around the corner, and for the rest of the time, just ignore the neighbours.

Best of luck,
Libragirl.

The end point is: every one has one of those wierd screwy neighbors at one time or another (a neighborhood would, unfortunately, not be the same with out them), and I find it really hard to believe that people other than Americans have not had that kind of an experience. Where I used to live in Long Island, the people accross the street were, I think, insane. They had a whole bunch of kids, never cut there lawn, their bushes were all over grown, the hose paint was pealing and in several different colors, and on any given day, there would be three or four bags of garbage on the front lawn. And they would screem at eachother. Once one of the kids hand cuffed his sister to the stop sign and left her there all after noon. Crazy.

And as for another point, yeah, it's people like Jerry Springer who give Americans a bad name. Foriegners watch that crap, and think that all Americans are that way... It's too bad...

Morgan..you are spot on..sorry to say (for the rest of the world). Maybe you guys aren't aware but what Morgan says is correct. We get the Jerry Springer, Ricki lake shows here, and unfortunately ppl DO get that impression of Americans..sad to say. And I'll go further by saying, the American dramas we see here also depict a VERY DIFFERENT representation of what America and Americans are like. I can say this with total honesty and agreement with Morgans statement b/c I have experienced this phenomena first hand.

(oh god, this is going to turn into a long post...hope you take the time to read it).

From personal experience I have always wanted to travel to the states to 'experience' the America that I saw on TV. Not in a negative way, but a positive one. (unfortunately most ppl think the way of the former). I did go to the states and was grossly dissappointed.....there was no 'loudness' nor 'arrogance' etc...what I found was (apart from the internet) was a race of ppl who were humble, giving, compassionate, innocent, and (in my opinion) the most polite race of ppl in the world. I was truly in awe, and the American ppl left a mark on me never to be equalled. Believe it or not, I would be the American PPl's BIGGEST advocate here. So Morgan is correct, sad to say...and it is unjust. I hope this helps in understanding a different perspective here..rightly or wrongly...it is just the way it is...at least for now.

But adding, I do not particularily like your government and its policies. And yes, some issues I am rather passionate about. As Americans, (at least ppl here at this site), cannot always seem to distinguish themselves apart from their government and would like to believe any differring opinion which is against a particular governmental policy is an attack against themselves as a people. Government and its ppl (whichever country you happen to reside in) are completely disitinguishable from each other..whether you support the government 100% or not...it is still distinguishable. Eg. from an outside perspective...just b/c someone who lives in a communist country it doesn't neccessarily make them a communist, so they should not be judged as one.

I am sorry that some ppl can't see this..but that is not my problem..and I refuse to turn it into one. Someone else can debate that issue.

I hope this gives you something that you may not have considered before. It is my position, it may not be anothers position, but this is my concept of it.

As for crazy neighbours...yes we all have them, but I can honestly say, with an almost absolute certainty, that what Sabrina has experienced specifically just would NOT happen here. As an accident sure...but using anothers car as a guidance system, and (more importantly) BELIEVING that is acceptable behaviour...well sorry, but I just can't fathom the logic behind such a thing! I STILL can't!

Romeclone, I didn't answer your question b/c I chose to ignore it. That's the great thing about being alive, the ability to choose. If you wish to throw insults at me and place me and Cortica in the same basket (of which I am highly honoured as I think she is she is incredible) then go ahead...lol...I will 'choose' to ignore them.

And Sabrina...my husband (who is North American Indian) has suggested you video tape your neighbour and take it to the police.

Well I wrote about my neighbors just to blow off some steam
and ask other peoples opinions if they had any interesting
or similar things happened to them.I didn't write it to get
into a political discussion or to read people's opinions
about how lousy everything is in America. If its so bad here
why do all the Australian actors and entertainers want to
live here.please take back Nicole,Russell and Hugh Jackman.
These are only a few. People judge America by the old
reruns that are sent out from Dynasty to Dallas and Buffy the Vampire slayer.Of course theres always The Sopranos.
I've been to Australia 4 times most people are very friendly and helpful but can also be rude and obnoxious
your culture is not perfect. There are rude people everywhere. I've also read many stories about Russell Crowe and his disgusting behavior tearing up restaurants ,punching photographers was he acting American and not Australian? He's somebody's neighbor.
As far as your advice while I appreciate your husbands input
I'm not one of those litigious people so it won't be happening.
For now I'm dropping off this site and these message boards
don't need to hear what a liar I am making up stories.
Also I don't identify myself with my government,I'm not such an innocent American and can distinguish between the two.

before I sign out I can't fathom how you can't distinguish
tv and movies from real life. What made you think how Americans were portrayed on film is how we really are.
I certainly didn't think every Australian looked and acted
like Crocodile Dundee. As far as tv don't you own a remote
control ?Doesn't your tv have a channel changer? Switch off
and watch something else. I live in America and don't believe what's on tv.
You don't say what area you visited here or when. Not every place is the same. Not sure why you are so adamant about our
government and its political policies.Did you try to secure work here and were refused? I don't know any Americans who
align themselves so closely witht the govt they can't listen
to another opinion. Most people don't even know their govt
leaders and many don't vote.Just what policies are you opposed to? You don't elaborate. What I really can't fathom
is how we are meant to read your long and drawn out post
yet won't answer what you don't want to answer.I choose to leave but I appreciate you clearing up about Russell although he does live in Australia and trashed the restaurant in his apartment bldg. Nicole was born in the US(her parents are Australian)so I guess that accent is
phony . Kiwi ,yeh that's a new one ,any one traveling Down Under has heard that before too. LOL

I didn't realise that you had actually asked me a direct question Sabrina. Your previous post seemed to have no relevance to what I wrote, b/c everything you have accused me off (or suggested) had already been contradicted (or explained) in my previous post. So I could have responded but then we would only be going around in circles, b/c you have made incorrect assumptions about me and seem to be unable to grasp what I said. When you chill out abit maybe you should re read it and your perspective may change.

One point I wish to clarify...I never called you a liar. Never even thought that. I am not going into political discussion here either..I prefer to do that under the politics heading, and have done so so many times already.

As for trying to draw me into an argument with you...not interested.
