Work drama

I posted this on the scorp board and got some racist views so I decided to post it here to see the reactions.

Well as you can see from my pic, I am a black woman I work in an office setting where I am the only black person and for some reason it has been this way for the last 6yrs or so in all my jobs. I get along with everyone and I have no issues with working with whatever race, so in my office there are 2scorp me and another lady, 1 cancer lady, 1 virgo lady, 2 capricorn one being my co-workers and the other one a man our head boss and then lastly 2 pisces womem one a co-worker and the other our manager. So the other scorp was talking about a diversity lady coming to our branch and the one cappy she is young and she said why are we having this diversity meeting and then she says they only hired me to have some diversity in the office so needless to say I kinda got upset and snapp on her and then she shut up but it was too late and everyone heard so then the drama starts. I know she is kinda ignornant the area we work in and where she lives in mostly white so I honestly doesn't think she meant any harm. Well the other scorp she told the boss and the boss call me in her office to let me know she doesn't feel that way at all, she thinks I am an assest to the company and that the cappy would be getting wrote up for saying that. So now the head boss has his talk with me to let me know I am also an assest and we have another branch and the hiring lady who hired me came over and told me that's not why I was hired it was becuase of my skills and so far. the cappy also wrote me an apology email, we have hung out before and I know she was only kidding but I guess it is the principle (the only thing is now I am done with it). She apologize and everyone and I mean everyone has told me how much of an assest I am to the company but it's like I am done with it I have move on so enough already. I am a scorp so I don't need any sympathy or attention to make me feel better, I am very confident in who I am and I know I can get a job anywhere with my personality and skills and oh the looks helps to. So the cappy we have been talking as normal and I told her we can still go to the gym together and what not, I think she is sincerely apologetic.

are you reassuring yourself with this thread?

i mean, if everything is so clear and you do come across as a confident lady, why does it bother you?

but people are people. some don't think before they speak, others are shallow, some like to be nasty....it's human behaviour.

No I just want to get everyone views but like you stated it's human behavior.

Let me see if I can sort this out so I can understand what happened.

Since the superiors came to you to assure you that this wans't the reason why you were hired ... I believe it would be safe to assume then, that what you snapped about was the possibility that that might be true, and it offended you.

Once you were assured this isn't the case and that you were there because of your skills, and not because of their need to fill a diversity quota ... you were satisfied, and wanted to put an end to them (bosses) assuring you of how good you are, and an asset to them.


I just have one question to you: Did you ever get upset about the fact that they intend on hiring a minority to fill this quota?

Ok, I have two questions: Is it safe to assume that your convictions of not making a black person an object to fill a quota only worth your voice if it's about YOU, and by your very non-caring about it being another black person or other minority actually makes you only care about yourself and not the black man's plight of being discriminated across the board, which is what you were trying to convey in the very outrage that set you off?

A third question:

Is it your human behaviour to care about your ass under a bus and not the other black person's ass to whom they will use to fill their diversity quota?

Which, really .. all three questions are asking the same thing
