"Ben Hur" with Charlton Heston.
I don't know if anyone will like it but I literally grew up on it. It's an epic movie from the 50s set around Jesus's lifetime-but Jesus is only a side character who you see through another's eyes. Anyway, if you can't sit through the 4-hr movie, fast forward about 3 hours to the chariot race. That's the best part.
hhhmmmmm.... I have no favorite movies... I recommend that everyone go out and make their own.
I've always wanted to see Ben-Hur, because it's a classic, but I never have gotten the opportunity to.
"Cleopatra" will forever be one of my favorites. I used to watch it all the time at my grandma's house. lol. I guess I love it so much because I think of it as a childhood movie. But it's really more of an adult movie.
"Chasing Amy" with Ben Affleck and Joey Lauren Adams and that guy who's really funny whose name I can't remember and Kevin Smith (who also directed) and that other funny blonde guy. lol. Complete enough cast list for ya? Anyway, I don't know why I like this movie so much. I think it shows a range of human emotions and a really great friendship/relationship between "Holden" (affleck) and "Alyssa" (adams). Although I am not very impressed with her acting job...she can annoy me sometimes.
Jason Lee! That's who I was thinking of...anyway he plays "Banky" in the movie.
"The Vikings", Kirk Douglas & Tony Curtis. It's epic. Lavish.. all that. It's not gold and glitz.. (times were primative.. but the filming, plot and pace are fantastic.
"Spartacus" isn't bad either.. except you probably already know the ending.
James the begening of cool.
I'm seriously on a roll.. (a bagle, I think..)
Quest for Fire
Must be the all time record holder for NO dialogue. Think 2001 meets Planet of the Apes.. It's actually quite good.
lol.... with cream cheese?
good indipendent film: Slackers
I almost remember Slackers.. who's in it?
OHH The weird guys? and that weridest one? "i don't have to take this abuse" .. simper, simper..etc?
no main character, the camera switches to somebody knew like every five minutes...
hmmm... the post cards on the floor guy?
I don't know if we're thinking of the same movie
is yours set it Texas?
Well.. gimme a bit more plot then. (I think you recognized the one I thought it was..postcards, yes.)
What about Texas?
it starts out with a guy at a bus station, and he takes a taxi out, and he talks to the taxi driver, and get's into this long monologue about what would have happened if he had stayed, how he might have met the beautiful girl, and she would have offered him a ride, yata yata yata, and he dicided he should have stayed at the bus stop....
Totally clueless.. But that's good, for it's a movie that I haven't seen.. (unlike you) small swat, duck.. quack..
And doing the 6 degrees of separation thing here.. reminds me of the movie with the girl "missing the subway" in one world/parallel/"catching it in the alternate one" and the guy she runs into. Kind of a crummy, but realistic ending. (I'm torn between "reality movies".. if that's not an oxymoron there.)
BTW.. being a NewYorker.. I'da thought you guys said.. "yada yada" . Yata yata sounds more refined.
lol... hey, I didn't grow up in brooklyn, what can I say?
And yes, that was Sliding Doors, also a good movie... Hey, the guy james in that movie, does he kinda remind you of James Tate? hmmm... Maybe not...
Which guy? The good guy? or the bad guy?
The guy at the end of the flick? or the guy she leaves for the good guy?
the good guy... not the cheesy guy...
Good guy. Got it.
Hey you.. Yet again.. I've things to attend to.. Enjoyed the chatting.. I'll catch you here again when there's more time.. Good Night Morgan.. watch the spirits!

"City By The Sea" with Robert DeNiro, Frances McDormand and this guy who looks *exactly* like James Dean.
I just rented this and I cannot even express what a good movie it was.
