Just saw 'The Mist' last night. Wow, just wow. I never would have expected to say that, having seen the lame Hollywood poster/dvd cover all these years, I simply never felt the urge to see it, as it looked like just another stupid Hollywood production.

Maybe my judgement was a little clouded by the reaction of the girl I was seeing it with, us Cancer moons are rather impressionable, as everyone knows. She was jumping, spasming out of fear, crawling up against me, crying... everything you wanted a girl to do back in the days when guys took girls out to the cinema.

But yeah, it was all that! One of the best horror movies to come out of the 00's. And this comes from someone who's NOT a fan of monster-flicks. It was written and directed by the guy who made Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile, and indeed it's a rather personal or I shall say "independent", Hollywood production, which in itself is something of a conradiction.

Totally blown away by the 'controversial' ending as well, can't believe they let the director get away with that (which is also why the Weinstein brothers are the only producers working in Hollywood today that I truly respect). So if you have plans on seeing it, make sure not to Google or read too much about it, just go see it asap!

I want to read It. I loved the mini-series, like any kid of my generation, but seeing it as an adult and reading about the novel, I realize it sucks because there is so much more to the whole universe of that book, than what ended up on the screen. I remember Stephen King saying that the original screenplay for "It" that was 6 hours long was "darn near a masterpiece", too bad it was never shot. So reading that book is on my top priority list this year.

And indeed, Stephen King has such a great way with creating characters. He's a great psychoanalyst. And Dolore Claiborne is one of my favourite adaptations.

I revisited The Langoliers the other day, the mini-series that is, and I lol'ed at the black guy getting offed first. I was like, wtf that was totally predictible! There was another guy there that was totally expendable (a comic relief) that should have been offed, imo. Not Stephen King's fault because in the novel, there was no hint of what race he was, but I feel somehow that the black guys always get shortes stick in King adaptations.

Just a little side-note.

I haven't seen that movie due to lack of interest and because everyone said the ending was ridiculous anyway, but the fact that you're saying there are multiple books makes it somewhat interesting. The Langoliers was another WTF movie and I was coincidentally thinking about it yesterday and how interesting the concept is, but how stupidly executed the movie was. I do like the Richard Bachman books(and lo and behold, my opinion of The Running Man film deflated when I read the book because they are too different from each other), so I should probably get into his horror books more.

Though, I must say I yawned through it until the very end. Memorable (clearly) nevertheless. 🙂

Gurrrl, you have nerves of steel! Mind if I crawl up against umm, your lap? 😛

I dunno howcome, but every once in a while I see a movie that I feel is a total standout from the usual garbage, yet others just shrug their shoulders at it. Shyamalan's The Village is one of those movies. Most people felt cheated by the conclusion, I felt like I've seen a prolonged episode of The Twilight Zone. My mind quivered with delight.

I liked it.. the ending was good... was happy that they (whoever directed and produced this film) did not force it to that usual typical happy ending for all.. the end was very tragic ..like the sort of one can get from ancient greek tragedies..provokes very powerful human emotions

but then some of my friends so hated the very same ending..they thought it was too nihilistic..each to their own it's all fine that we have different tastes and opinoins 🙂 actually that makes things more interesting..also create good debates/discussion
