Hydorah has a thread on jazz music somewhere on this music forum already.
Tho I have a bazillion stuff I love from jazz. I'll be posting all day long posting all the jazz tunes I got and like. They range anywhere from smooth contemporary all the way down to mainstream/fusion.
This was the very first time I got hooked on to jazz when hearing this
That was the very first jazz record I bought and others followed years later.
While I don't consider myself a jazz artist (tho I'd like to become one someday) I now find myself playing musical instruments myself. Never realize how fun it could be. I would think anybody whose been listening to jazz for damn near all their life would be influence to pick up a musical instrument of some kind.
And I still want a harp. And I'm gonna get it. If I can't find a music school to take up harp lessons there's plenty YouTube videos I can be tutored on.
It's wide encompassing genre. My favorite is jazz fusion, of the 70s type
I like most types, smooth jazz, lounge jazz, brazilian, even nu-jazz, anime jazz, etc... there is only one type of jazz I don't like, it's jazz concerts where every musician takes turns doing improvisations on the tune, I find this awful.

What!! Dude are you kidding me? Jazz concerts is one of THEE best if not the best. I can kick back and watch jazz musicians take turns playing their instruments while enjoying a big bowl of popcorn. Oh I'm in heaven then.
My two favs from herb Alpert

He sure did. A lot better than today's young jazz musicians who makes jazz sound more like r&b and hip hop.
Say, what ever happen to herb Alpert? Did he quit the music industry?

he's still alive, releases an album almost every year. But mostly reprises.
carribean fusion
Not bad. Never heard that jam before. This one by them is my favorite one..
Listening to that song right now in the background while typing this message. I can listen to that song all day and night if you let me.
I'm really weak to that type of smooth jazz mixed with big 80s synths and sax.
This is my whole youth. That music was in the background of everything, radios, elevators, documentaries, videogames, japanime, 90s porn. I literally grew up into that music. Most of it was really low quality royalty-free midi music, but that just made it better.

Haha I remember that song. Came out in 1991. I had that one on cassette tape. Takes me back to my military days. The swarm of girls I had oh man the Good ole days I wish could come back.
Man dude the rippingtons is the shit. They dominated the 80s and 90s. I love those 80s synths and saxophones.
@Som I don't know if you still following up on this thread. Just wanted to give an important update on it real quick to say this dude is my all time idol
And just for the record, here's the original album version 1986
A true guitar god. And let's sneak a little astrology in there...a Pisces.
This is beautiful! Very relaxing, thanks for sharing 😍

Are you serious? You wouldn't be gagging me behind the screen pretending to like this kind of stuff do you? Are you into jazz? Smooth jazz that is? Jazz is the most serious type of music out of all for serious people who loves to unwind. Somehow you keep striking me as a wild child.
Did any of you watch Ken Burns's Jazz documentary? Did you like his version of history of jazz music?
Yes I have. And I loved it. I only wish the jazz channel come back in my area. I miss it. I'll have to see if I can find ken burns jazz documentary on YouTube.

I don’t think you are crazy about fire energy and that’s what strikes you as wild. I am 50% Leo and 50 % Gemini. You are a quiet Gemini so it doesn’t sit well with you. That’s ok, we are alllllll different! I know that Geminis lot of time comes of as insincere, especially online.
As for your other question, I love all kinds of music and yes, I love jazz too. I clicked because it said “St.Tropez” and I was intrigued. The scenery, the music, smooth rhythm, everything was just perfect, and I although I never heard of this band, I am glad I know of them now. I also like the one hydorah shared.
I am gonna give it another listen right now. It’s that kind of a day.
The sun is shining and I hope you have a very merry season with good food and drinks 🥂 🥘 🎄 🎁
I just have to hit 2 more stores and I am done with everything.

Greaaaat!! Glad to hear another Gemini love jazz🙂. I was about to lose my mind being the only gem here who loves jazz.
And yeah we have lots of food ready. Now I have to go back to the liquor store for some more liquor before the liquor store close. I feel too lazy to get out right now. My greedy behind done slam the one I bought days ago.
You do the same and have a merry Christmas🌲

Thank you so much!
And please make your self go, the earlier the better. Nothing worse than being stuck inside of the house for days with no liquor. I think all stores close earlier today. I also wanna move my body, but I keep refreshing dxp instead 🤔

Well just got back from the liquor store. I had to force myself to get out. Wasn't easy but I did it. I would post the liquors to prove to everybody I'm not lying but I don't want the attention.

I decided to create such topic in pair to the topic about classical music. I did not find the same thread on the site.
What do you like from jazz? Who are your heroes?
