Any experience with a blind dog?

She's a puppy and she was born blind. Any specialized training need to know info? What will it be like long term?

Aww.. That's so sad. But it's a wonderful thing you're doing.

I've had a 20 year old Terrier with very bad cataract.

You have to make sure that they're in a safe environment.. no steps, sharp objects around etc..

With my dog, he could still hear commands but I marked areas with food so he knows where he's going. But it got so bad when he couldn't even get out of his kennel we made a decision to put him down.

It was hard, but harder to see him getting upset when he couldnt find the opening to the kennel, hurting himself falling down the steps as he couldn't see where he was going.

As yours is still a puppy. With regular training she will pick up and become familiar with her surroundings.
male from Alabama, USA
Sagittarius Sun/ Virgo Moon/Scorpio Ascendent.
I had one go blind I taught her to follow me by snapping my fingers. They are awesome at remembering where they are so the less clutter the better, keep everything close to its place.

Ah, yes, I'll have to baby proof the house. That is so damn genius. *Using selective scents to help direct her* Was there anything you forgot to move that your dog got close to?

Oh, no! I'm so sorry to hear that. How long ago was this?

I am so excited! I can't help but squeal inside when I look at her picture. Going to start off with adoption and see how it goes

Whaaat? :/ How did she just go blind?!! I still need to find a cute little storage basket for her things. Went out and got her some doggy dresses, shampoo/conditioner, toys, and grooming needs today

Thinking of cooking specialized doggy treats for her with fresh veggies but I don't want her getting spoiled with human food. So when do you guys think would be a reasonable schedule for that? Every Sunday maybe?

Couldn't move the steps as the formed part of the foundation around the house. Other than that, making sure that every item is stored away properly and covered any sharp edges.

We put him down in 2008 but they become part of your family so I always get nostalgic when I think about it still.

We've never spoiled the dogs much. They've always eaten what we've had. All the dogs we've had end up being accustomed to spicy foods. Lol

As a newbie I didn't realise how clicky it was on here! I thought Twitter was bad, at least back there I knew who the trolls, attention seekers, arseholes were. I feel like the new girl in high school.

What do you think? I think calling especially women easy and too easy is bollocks. That you need to challenge people, act like you're not interested and availeble, not have sex, to get someone to like you is madness. If you like someone, you want to
