so why do you think that?

i need details
Wat?

Details about what?
why do you think you got the better deal

how would you know?

everything is connected right

if you were with her

maybe she wouldn't have been in the same place

We talked for a few.

She basically made bad decisions.

I'm talking DXP-bad bad decisions.

I mean I've ran into old acquaintances who ran into hard times not of their doing before and I never was like "good you deserve it", but with her it was like "WTF you wasted your opportunities".

And let's not get into "if she had been with me". Ain't no one got time for that. We all know behind every good man there's a good woman.

Besides needing a good teeth cleaning, about the same.

More like where they are in life now, overall.

I felt like he probably thought he was Better off when in reality i was thinking the same thing.
Yeah I feel that's usually how it goes.

One ex I saw, I thought wow... drugs and partying really piled on some years eh

Meanwhile she probably looked at me and thought "f'kin square"

She was probably "Jesus he's fat. And bald. And WTF is with not shaving".

I haven't seen her in almost 20 years. Never knew what happened to her after we broke up.

If you're at the grocery store and you run into an ex and you're like "Holy shit I dodged a bullet with this one" and then you start to feel all warm and tingly inside because your life turned out better?
"im better off shows you made a mistake" mentality? Im assuming she broke up with you and did shady stuff? Do you see her as a failure? If she doesnt see herself as a failure then her probably running into you meant nothing to her, she got the life she wanted. That's what I've learned people don't care where they end up if they dont want to be with ya they won't haha happened to me

No, I broke up with her.

I mean it's certainly plausible she thinks she turned out just fine. In fact I believe based on the way she spoke she's probably fine with the way she turned out.

I just remember her as being a bit more responsible and with a better head on her shoulders.

Lol I think of it as we each got what we wanted.
I didnt look at him as a failure idk how he looked at me, I myself got heavier but not far from what i was. He had contacted me years before asking me something which was very weird. I guess testing me to see if I still thought about him and honestly I didn't.

The tragedy is that when we dated he broke up with me. I didnt want us to break up but we did never gave me a reason why. He came back months later and I rejected him.

Fast forward to now I believe I wouldn't have continued school if we would have stayed together. Life looks out for people in funny ways.
Sometimes it's even stranger comedy of errors.

My last ex she broke it off when I wouldn't move to be with her.

Must have been just under a year ago now she came back in town and it was evident we were both open to spending time with each other on all levels again.

Only when we got back to my place, before we could do anything I got food poisoning from our night out. And then again a second time the next week before she was flying out.

She was a Scorpio so she got it into her head that I had rejected her. I couldn't be bothered to argue, wasn't worth it. Not proving myself to anyone.

Just a few months later I started talking with the love of my life so thank you, poisonous chicken korma! Boom.

Depends on what one values more; a content private life or a good paying job and maybe she's happy with both.

Still not a good look to wallow in someone else's misery.

People wallow in their own misery.

If I was wallowing in her misery I would be feeling the misery she was feeling.

I think you're looking for "taking pleasure in other's misery". Which is not the case. I simply felt fortunate and happy that I made good choices and was happy with my life.

Really this is more about arbitrary standards I've placed on my own life.

If I ever bump into my Virgo ex, I hope he is as happy as I am because he deserves that. Š

But to answer your question: No. I don't think that's wrong at all. I don't mean to get all religious or philosophical on you, but if something is meant for you, it *will* be yours, And if it's not meant for you, it's for a reason.. Your thread reminds me of that, so I'm glad things worked out for you in the end.

This.

A few weeks ago I ran into a friend of mine, we had a thing ..long story short I picked another guy over him AGES ago.
The minute he found out I ended my long term rel & canceled my engagement ...he took such pleasure in it.
It was fucked up.
He even had the balls to say " well guess you picked the wrong guy, im getting married soon, I'm successful & im happy "
Said a whoooole lot about him as a person.
I still made the right choice.

You're right.

Wallowing in someone's misery isn't a good look.

No one looks good crying along with someone else.

Dude..i didnt expect him to cry with me but damn..have a little decency ..I dunno as a human? especially if you're gonna call yourself my friend.

I'm just referencing the incorrect use of the word wallow.

But yeah...that guy sounds like a dick.

I don't take pleasure in seeing her that way at all. I even said I felt a bit sad.

But I did feel validated in my choices.

There's only one ex I could run into in Australia. He's only in my town for maybe 3 months. He's a crayfisherman so he chills in port doing boat work in off season.

Anyways, he's on my FB and I wouldn't care either way. He's partying a lot, but why not if you're single?

We still chat so there's no weird shit.
Crayfish are lobsters? We have "crayfish" here that live in freshwater that are miniature lobsters.

Anyways yeah it really wasn't weird or awkward or anything. I've never kept in touch with any of my exes so when/if I run into one it's a bit of a shock to see where they've ended up. I ran into one a few years ago that went from party girl to Earth Mother with 4 kids and a husband and it was surprising.

Like I said I wasn't taking pleasure in seeing her in the position she was in. It was surprising. And it made me feel better about where I was. I would never be petty and think she was less of a person because of it. I'm not THAT cruel.

I'm glad you don't otherwise that would be petty and mean-spirited. I had a friend give an update on an acquaintance without me asking and I was horrified. All she could tell me, happily , that the other person looked miserable in appearance and looked as she aged greatly. That made me look at my friend differently. I was mad at this acquaintance but I don't wish her bad in her life. Its a horrible person to gloat in someone's misery.

I think there's a difference between being petty or and cruel and being validated or happy with how you turned out.

Nobody says please, up north... it's weird.

😕

Put simply, money won't buy happiness.

Or health, or peace of mind, or a clear conscience.

The stuff that lets you sleep well at night.

What did you think I meant?
