It's a double-edged sword that has so many variables, that it is literally impossible to make a blanket statement of what a person deserves AND forgiveness.
The issue with it, religiously speaking, and I assume you are speaking from that mind-set since this is the religion room .... is that people become programmed, brainwashed, if you will.
YES, I said brainwashed. It's not just bad-cults that are brainwashed .. it's ALL religions. They are programmed to only believe what their canon directs, and all else is wrong.
In saying that .. people are programmed to err without accountibility for their actions, and all will be forgiven.
There is a tremendous flaw in that ^^ programme for because it so deeply seeded, people will go about their lives in every aspect (relationships, careers) and have no conscience about their wrong-doings because all will be forgiven.
There is a fundemental error in that, of itself .... because to have this belief instilled in us, how can we possibly grow and evolve into higher beings?
