Hello Guys and Girls,

Have you ever read the book or even seen the movie The Da Vinci Code? In accordance to the religion you are following what do you think of the book and/or the movie?

I am following the Christian Orthodox religion, and I have been thought that Jesus had no wife, no kids, no nothing, contrary from what The Da Vinci Code says. Sometimes I ask myself why was the Bible written, for what, was Jesus a normal human being as we are, was he really married, did he really have a daughter, why having different types of religions, why baptizing the little babies by their parents-why not let them choose their religion they want to follow, and etc etc etc...

I have lived with people following the Mormon religion, Catholic, Presbyterian, I have friends who are Muslim, and Gooosh, I am just so confused; I dont know what to believe in anymore.

In today's society, no one knows what to believe in anymore. I was raised a Methodist but as I've grown older and experienced different things, it's made me think that the Bible was created for people to have hope. I still believe in Jesus, Christmas, the Crucifixion, etc. It's just what I was raised on. I know people that were raised in heavy religion and because it was so forced down their throat they turned to be Atheists. I guess it depends on how you were raised (If you were given the religious freedom to think for yourself) and your life experience. I'm a Christian because of what I believe not because I attend some physical structure on a weekly, bi-weekly or daily basis. As the saying goes "You can get in the car but that doesn't mean you leave your garage.", I believe I am more of a Christian than alot of hyprocrites that attend church on a frequent basis.

Scorpio,

Thanks for sharing your opinion. I liked what you have said.

My ex boyfriend was a Catholic, and after sometime he went into being Atheist because he thought following any kind of religion is SENSELESS. Many times I tried to talk to him and explain him what the Bible says, but all he was replying to me is that we are all humans that when we die theres no hell no heaven. He didnt even believe in God, Holy Spirit, nothing... He believed in himself.

I cant say I am very religious, but I know many things what my religion aims to teach us, but when I read the book and watched the movie of Da Vinci, I got absolutely confused.

Really, very Confusing!

A guy I used to date was raised Catholic as well, including Catholic school. He's Atheist now. I guess what we can take from this is don't force anyone to do anything. We can even carry that idea into our relationships, the more we try to force someone to think the way we do, the more we just push them away from us and our ideals.

I wouldn't put too much into the movie. I read Angels and Demons by Dan Brown and it was better than DiVinci Code. I could not put the book down! 🙂 The Lost Symbol was pretty good too.

The idea that JC was married and had kids goes way back before Dan Brown wrote the book. It is several hundard years old if not over a thousand. I don't know that we will ever know the truth of the matter. most jewish men were married it was exspected of them. Most women were not mentioned in writeings during the time of JC. Remember the Newist part of the Bible was writen starting at around two hundard years after his death. There are also many other books not included in the Bible that state thing from a different point of view. If interested get your hands on Bibical Archaeology a good mag.

Thanks James...

I have read a lot of religious books and honestly I am very confused as I said previously and I am not sure in what to believe, what existed, what exists and what does not.

Its a really very ongoing subject... Very!

It's confusing cos you didn't find out more. I know some Roman Catholics who know nothing about the different denominations! They just go to church every sunday and then that is it..

how is the book confusing? I thought it was kind of clear cut. The good and then the evil.

tbh, the last time I talked to a seventh day adventist, she said that she cannot eat prawns or lobsters because they crawl in the oceans and are considered unclean insects. I just remembered that and that is all.. didn't bother to find out more. Maybe next tiem. I like how various texts are taken out of 'context' so to speak to fit differing sects or denominations. But as long as it's a positive diety, it is all good in my opinion.
