Contrast.....

It's a funny thing how contrast is so amazing. I love to use it in decorating. I will pair up old barn-board with granite, fro instance. Maybe a really soft pretty color painted on a wall beside a rough metal piece. Contrast makes us relate to the extremes and being a Scorpio I am about the extremes. My wardrobe is a reflection of who I am and again you can witness the contrast within by the different style s of clothes you will see in my closet. I also love contrast and the extremes in all facets of life, refusing to ever live in the box.

Although this thread is me being a brat, it does have a great deal of truth.
I do work hard for my balance in life, but only in certain areas like connection with another.
I have even grown to love the OCD in me. Now that's a feat.
I live in color.

Asc. sq Sun. I thought the smily gave it away. I suppose I could have added "nice" at the end, but it was more than that. I find your ability to do that intriguing. My mind doesn't work that way, so it rattles me a little bit (there needs to be a purpose got dammit!), but I am drawn to it because it just has a.....peaceful quality about it that I like.

Sort of like a grand soir?e where all the freaks and misfits can just "be", if that makes any sense. No rules, not expectations, just jump in and out as you please and it's okay.

I'm okay with it. Others aren't though because it confuses them when I float in and out, which I can appreciate.

I don't mean to rattle you but I am happy that you feel that peaceful quality about it. That is probably one of the nicest things someone has said to me. I do feel that way about everyone I encounter in life. I know what my flaws are and just cannot begrudge someone theirs. I am also fairly certain that within most (sometimes buried so deeply) there lies a beautiful heart that really just wants to be loved and understood. The bain(?) of my existence.
Accepting that we all have within us light and shadow and understanding that you cannot negate the shadow is what really brought me to this point. I can fight with anyone, and I can forgive, like nothing.

... and Thankyou pastasauce! I love it too and in all reality there are similarities like that look of what? huh? and the crazy hair on its head? That's me. Haha!

Contrast is wonderful! It's one of the reasons I gravitate to working in black and white for my art: very high contrast.

Ahhh... totally get that pic and it's gorgeous! Yes I understand that too. I have been in the black and white zone where the more critical subjects are concerned since I have become more careful with my heart and loving myself.
Where I love to express my 'color' is being free to feel. To be me. I think it's liberating. I try to teach my kids that as well too. We were raised to contain, to be rigid, to follow the rules and quite honestly, I find it difficult to follow rules that are archaic and clearly not designed to protect all concerned.

Moon I totally agree with you there. Contrast in art is absolutely beautiful and your artwork is amazing! Something you are very good at.

Pastel and White, I agree, although neutral grey/brown tones can work if the color is really light.
I love to wear pink but if its in my brown paint it drives me freaking bonkers! Mostly I love to blend and use colors found in nature. I usually try to only use natural materials but couldn't here.
I love Black and White contrast in decorating but find I have to use it sparingly otherwise its too hard for me. Now a Crisp white button down shirt (not entirely buttoned) with some nice fitting black pants (hemmed to the bottom of the heel damnit!) and some killer boots or heels? Fun!

That's what I wonder though... is it really necessary to strive for balance in all areas of life? Maybe you are more balanced than you realize?
