Question for Scorpios please

I really like a Scorpio guy, but he seems like a player, lots of girls that are friends. He never talks to me first but when I see him it seems he is waiting around on his own for me to go and talk to him, I like him a lot but it always seemed to me he just wanted sex and I'm not about that. Recently it seemed he was waiting for me so I went up and asked him how his birthday was and he mumbled something I couldn't hear and ended with "I'm not into sleeping around I hate that kind of thing"
My questions are, that's quite a random thing to say, would a Scorpio lie to get in your pants? He never initiates so I'm not sure he really likes me, is he trying to open up to me? He seems to like the player image that he shows to everyone else. He's scorpio venus, maybe he's even saying it to let me know he doesn't want sex with me, I just don't know. Any Scorpios who know mind games well, could you please help me out here, I don't want to keep approaching him if he's not interested.

Have sex with him and be good enough that he wan'ts a relationship out of it. That's what its going to come down to anyway so why waste time trying to figure him out. If it doesn't work out at least he fucked your brains out.

haha this brings us back to the point of my question. He told me he didn't sleep around even though he gives everyone the impression he does. I don't really want to be another notch on his belt, but I'm thinking the fact he doesn't initiate means he wants it to come easy or he really doesn't like me, he's always looking at me though. guess i'm just really confused, I dated a scorpio before and he was very straight forward, no games.
