Why are air signs so hard to deal with?

I have 14 employees that work for me and 6 of them are gemini's. They are bubbly and fun. Outgoing and talkative. I had to fire 2 of them this week for the same reason. Neither one of them wants to take responsibility for their actions. I know they fucked up and I'm willing to forgive and forget, but neither would admit to the problem.

#1 Didn't show up for a scheduled shift. Being in my industry it happens and since turnover rate is so high, hard working folks are hard to come by. I talked to this gem and he said he had some sort of emergency and he was sorry he didn't call. So I said it was fine, but in the future if he wanted to keep his job that he needed to call if he wasn't going to be able to make it to work. Well that was last sunday. He was scheduled for this past thursday and calls me an hour before his shift and tells me he isn't coming in. Wasn't very specific. I asked him if he was still planning on working here and he said he was sorry, he said "let's start over, I'll come in on monday, what time you want me there". I told him to come get his last check. He couldn't comprehend why I was firing him. I told him that I was letting him go because he wasn't showing up for his shifts and that I didn't understand how he thought he could dictate to me when he was going to be coming to work and when he wasn't. He asked me to mail him his last check, so I dropped it in the mail. Then he calls the next day to come pick up his last and I told him it was in the mail. He retorted that he couldn't understand why I was firing him. WTF?

#2 Decided that she wanted to ignore the table rotation and just pick and choose what tables she would be getting for the night. Not a bad strategy if you know which people tip the most money, but it is unfair nonetheless and not how I operate. So I found out what was going on and sent her home for the night. This was thursday night as well. The next day she comes in and talks to me telling me she couldn't understand why I sent her home when she didn't do anything wrong. So I explained and she denied it even though I caught her red handed! This really pissed me off, so I sent her home this time for good.

All the others are the same too, each time the other 4 fuck up, they want to act like they didn't do anything wrong. Now I would say it's an age thing, but they are all different ages, older and younger than I. I have a couple of aqua's and a few libra's as well.

The libra's I feel are way way too hard on themselves as they make it dramatic. The aqua's act all moody and shitty. I also notice really shady behavior with each aqua I have hired over the years. Like if they can for the moment get away with something they will take the risk.

Currently I have 1 scorp, 1 aries, 1 virgo, and 1 cancer and they rarely aggravate me. they get the job done and take responsibility when they fuck up. They don't get moody, they don't act shady, they don't dramatize, they just accept it.

Geminis are way up there in manipulating, and one of the main techinqyes is to keep a foot in the door by pretending they didn't understand. This way, while they keep the talk going, they know they still have a change to switch your thoughts around. My 2 cents, the dumb repeating/emphasizing the rules of the game from the beginning of time 🙂 helps mercurial ppl understand how such things are to be respected rather than navigated around. Otherwise they will keep up the game playing. Hermes/Mercury was the merchant god, busy like a bee in traficking, communicating, commerce, relaying messages, thinking. The dark side of geminis means distortion of communications in gossip, lie, mind games, failure of honest (economical) exchange through fraud, etc. Since they are ruled by Mercury they cannot stop thinking and scheming (emphasize on cannot) therefore since their forte is the thinking, they're not huge on feeling and will avoid strong emotional displays. The latter is common to all air signs. Geminis don't value loyalty the way a fixed sign such as Scorp does, but they observe ppl very well and will apply the concept to you if they see they can have their way by using it. They just do it veery smoothly. Decent twins, it's just that while one twin is building, the other one can devilishly destroy; nature of the beast. They usually are very ambitious though, so the approach "what's in it for me" usually appeals to the kind 🙂

We are completely unreliable (Gemini's) I've never had a job that lasted more than 3 months. The only thing I seem to be able to stick to is sleeping in. Also with the whole two personalities thing, man am I over that crap. Why can't I just be one person. I'm always contradicting myself. I hate the evil twin but I lover her too.
I wish I was an Aries or something 😢

Very nicely said!It is not that we are bad people inside,we are decent,but we do have this continous struggle of good vs.evil inside of ourselves...and sometimes,well sometimes evil wins.And "what's in it for me"?Isn't this everyone,or most people anyways in today's business world?

Different things motivate different ppl, sense of duty, pride, guilt, etc.

When I go to work I go there to make money.

My expectations are always known from day 1 and I reinforce those expectations on a daily basis. I understand not wanting to deal with the stress of minor screw ups, but not when they are big ones and especially when you are caught in the act.

In light of firing this girl, I've had her mother, sister, aunt, friends, and a bunch of others come apologize for her. I would give her another shot, but she herself has yet to come and apologize. So until that happens, it isn't happening.

It's whatever. I had a staff meeting today. Said some positive things, went over expectations, talked about upcoming events, ripped into my staff, hugged them afterward (metaphorically) you have to hug them after you beat them or they will hate you, and then took everyone out for drinks.

Told everyone, "you are responsible for effectively doing your job (includes showing up on time, knowing your schedule, clocking in/out etc etc), everyone screws up from time to time, we all have bad days. I understand completely having a bad day every now and again, but when you screw up I expect you to own up to it. Lying to my face like I'm a dumbass will probably cost you your job. I really go out of my way to accommodate your schedules (servers/bartenders) and I make sure you guys (cooks, back of house) get your hours, so if you can't make it I would like you to try to get your shift covered or call me 4 hours in advance. I don't think I'm asking too much from any of you to come in and actually work. No more cell phones, leave em in your car. No more smoke breaks between 5-8pm. And nothing is taken out of my kitchen, coolers, or bottles without a ticket rang in. I know everyone has a life outside of work, except for me haha, but I have a business to run and I simply cannot fulfill every requested day off. I will do my best to get you those days off, but if I need you to work I expect you to show up and be ready to go. Not showing up or calling off excessively on a shift that you had requested off that I could not give you will force me to suspend you or terminate our relationship"

I pay my cooks 15/hr. My employees in the front make good tips too. Full timers 800-1k/wk Parttimers 3-700/wk No reason to not show up. BTW, the only employees that cause these issues are air signs. Yes the cancer is moody, but she still shows up and still busts her ass, so moodiness is tolerated.

I think not hiring people due to their astrology sign is ridiculous. However. Coming from a Gemini ill tell you right now a lot has to do with maturity levels. I didn't grow out of my IDGAF attitude until about mid 20's. I would hop around from job to job which is typical for Gemini's being the butterflies that we are. I wasn't serious about anyone or anything. I think it's about maturity levels. Air signs are probably the last to mature out of all the zodiac.

LOL Awwwwww. Of course I'd have to give up the glamorous life of 5 on the floor, one in dessert world for the weeks bake..but hey ho. There we have it. I'll just open up my own shop and have one of each flavor on staff to start. I'll give each one the stank eye ensuring quality representation from each element. 😛

You must keep your head up high for the greater good. A burden I'll allow but I have faith. LOL

when i read your gemini's excuses it seemed to me that they were just immature. but the one that said they didn't understand probably wasn't bullshitting, because ive used that too, and part of the reason was because i really didn't fully understand it, and i do not take regulations seriously..they are more like sub-guidelines 😄

I think like any business man/manager he wants a couple of things: Show up on time. Do your damned job.
In this field you really do get the most ridiculous of call in excuses. One woman called in because she couldn't locate her hair spray. A true tragedy I know. 😛 That and you've got the hungover, the can't be arsed, the idiotic. The ones that want to stand there and look pretty and not do what they're supposed too. The ones not serious about it ( just here for the summer ) and on and on it goes. At times this means you rely on a core group of 'dependables', the backbone of your business. They get overworked while the flotsam and jetsam just drifts about. Usually with their thumb in.
Then you've got all the bitching and bagging from back of house to front. Dealing with customers ( oy vey at times, seriously ) daily. It all must work as an oiled machine, it must. When you've got dust or hair in the works it needs cleaned out. I'd have fired them too honestly. Not because they were Gems, Aquas or Libras though. Just because they weren't pulling their weight. If you're not here to do your job and well, step aside.
