I've had my F150 for two years now and I think I'm finally ready to let her go. It's just too much of a hassle to drive because it's so big and it gets the shittiest MPG ever.

Therefore I need a new commuter car. I want something that looks awesome, but girly. Of course you can't see a lady driving around in a challenger, but would a camaro be cool?

Post pics of recommendations as well please.

But yeah that truck must be a hole in your pocket when it comes to gas. Are you looking to buy a new or pre-owned vehicle?

Pre-owned, preferably not even through a dealership.

Budget is $ 30k. I may be willing to shell out a lil more if it's a good deal / worth it.

Out of all of those I vote M4. But I really doubt you'll get better MPG out of it than what you have.

The M4 does look badass ? Currently I'm getting 14MPG. Can it really get worse than that?

You gotta speak to someone who's had one. Or can you hire purchase it for a week to ride around?

Mine was an M6 but not a modern one, straight six engines have come some way on fuel economy since mine. My best friend's was a modern M3, he never complained about the mileage.

Dang, I don't think I can do that one week purchase thing, but maybe I can rent one for a month... I'll have to look into it. Thanks for the input ?

For one, yes it would look cool and sexy for driving. 2, wth happened to saving gas?? ?? Get the new Mazda Miata. It's cute and good with gas. Only downside is it's a two seater. I'm assuming your into American cars more though or do you have a wide preference? Throw me brands you like and I'll offer suggestions.

Those cars don't get better mileage than my truck?!

Mazda Miata looks like a dad car to me, or a high school boys first car ?

Ford, Chevy, Subaru, and dodge I'd say are my top picks. Maybe Lexus.

Also, I want a drop top. Convertibles will make it feel more girly ❤️

Lol naw for real, it's a good car and I see all ages driving it, but I suppose I'm old ? I know to you I for sure am.

Go get the new Jaguar convertible, you might like that but again the gas miligae on any sports car will suck, especially the more upscale ones.

Ah yes I was thinking of this Subaru, I just didn't know what it was called! Do you think they could do a drop top BRZ?

IDK Subaru really focused on safety.

Convertible would be a waste in that car if you know how to drive though. No one would have time to see you as you passed them up.

Are you referring to the new Miata or imagining the old one?

What year is your F-150? The newer ones are decent in gas, but the v6 stangs are SLIGHTLY better. If you want better mileage, consider the 2015 2.3 liter turbo model. The engine is small, but it has power and I'm sure you'll love it. 310 horsepowers brings you to 0-60 in about 5 seconds.

As for Chevy, your only sporty option would be the Camaro RS. If you get the SS, you'll pay the same gas as your truck.

Subaru. I can't think of any drop tops for them, but the sporty models are the WRX STi or Impreza STi. These cars are best, pricey, and can rip through dirt/snow. 4 wheel drive and would probably beat the American V8 versions of the Mustang and Camaro. It's because of the 4wheel drive + turbo. But buying the "STi" version of each of the two Subarus is not cheap. Roughly $ 40k- $ 50k

Dodge... Can't say I know much about dodge... Sorry :/

Lexus. Can't think of drop tops either, but sporty cars would be the First series cars. They are pricey as hell. iSF, RSF, and GSF. Another good entry sports strength car would be the is350. A cheaper option.

If you wanted convertibles, not much options for Asian cars that I could think of. The ones I can think of are older cars.

Your best bang for the buck for Power, Gas, and Sleek look would be the 2.3 Liter turbo Mustang. Average sticker new is $ 30k low

New Miata. I see the commercials and ?

My F150 is a 2012, but I have mods on it (exhaust mods & lift kit with big ass tires) and people say that's why my mileage went down ?

Yeah I've been looking into the Subaru Impreza, but I don't want other Subaru drivers to recruit me for their clubs because they think they're so special ?

I guess I'll take Lexus off my list because I can't find any attractive ones.

If I get the mustang convertible can I still get the high tech interface on the inside, or do they keep it simple to avoid rain damage?

Same car I think. At least the bones. Originally was a Scion but Scion is no more but it was still manufactured by Subaru. They must make a convertible model for Toyota.

Edit: I'd check to make sure it still has the Boxer engine of the BRZ though. Too lazy to research nao.

Better handling and stability of the vehicle due to a lower center of gravity because of the horizontal engine layout.

And I just checked...the Toyota does have a Boxer engine. Near racing quality at that.

Wait, Ford, Chevy, and Dodge are some of your picks?

lol.

Those are the only ones I feel like are acceptable for a single college student to drive! I need something that doesn't stand out too much!!

While I understand your concern for aesthetics, you should be doing more research beyond "does this look cool??"

You're on the right track with the mpg stuff, but going sports car isn't going to do much for you, tbh. Sure, it'll be better than your truck but are you even considering cost of insurance for sportier cars? You're in the prime insurance gouging range because you're under 25.

Nevermind the masses of recalls that happen with some makes/models, which is something else to consider. Then there's the track record of those makes who tend to fall apart because American made cars aren't the best made and have a lot of shitty problems with them as time goes on.

I also can't fathom why a college student is aiming to get something so pricey when they're in the age group most likely to get into accidents. If you want to go for nice, by all means, but there should be a lot more thought going into this other than "ooh, I want something coool!" You're going to get eaten alive by anyone trying to sell you something.

Lol money is not much of an issue. I obviously can't get a lambo, but I could get a standard issue Porsche 911 if I wanted. I just feel like if I get something more than $ 50k brand new people are going to be suspicious.

That being said, I can afford gas, insurance & maintenance. Though recalls is something I did not think of; I guess I'll have to look into that more.

If you read the thread I said I'm looking to buy used from a private party. I don't like dealerships. But at the same time it's looking like the cars I want may only be available at a dealership 😐 I can just go in knowing what I want and tell them. Most dealerships have websites now displaying most of their inventory...

The exhaust mod to your F150 won't hit much on gas. The biggest is your lift kit and upgraded tires. Your burning gas by adding excess weight to the car.

LOL at the suby car crew. It's true LMAO

I did read the thread, sweetie. Where did I mention dealerships? You're naive if you think dealers are the only ones who can rip you off.

If you think that's how car buying works at dealerships, then good luck to you. Apparently you have no problem throwing money around, even if it means getting ripped off.

Whatever you do end up interested in getting, do some serious research. Hit up forums based on that make/model because they'll be an invaluable resource in regard to overall feedback and issues.

Check out cargurus.com as well. It's a great source when car shopping. If you have to go to a dealership in the long run, you have info like how long they've had it, what the price history is for it at that lot as well as what it's going for locally, so you know if they're asking too much or that you're getting a great deal. They also usually provide a Carfax history with the listing. Knowing its history on the dealer lot also gives you some serious negotiating power overall. If you know they've had that car for a bit and have adjusted the price to get it to sell, you know you've got the upper hand when it comes to negotiating.

Your purchase power comes with knowledge, not always the money involved.

Idk how you feel about Hyundai, but I drive a Hyudai 2013 Genesis. I have the 3.8 track model and I love the handling and power. The gas is pretty good and I've actually beaten some motorcycles in races as well as Mustangs and newer SS Camaros and the V8 Dodge Charger. Mines is only a V6, but the power and handles is surprising. I drive it pretty hard and have gone 160 mph in it. Maybe you might want to Google it, never know, you might like it. Also test drive it!

Not gonna lie a genesis seems like another one of those car club cars that specializes in racing ??

Also, why are you concerned with people being "suspicious?"

I don't hear that often from people who purchase because they're more concerned about other things, but "I don't want to look suspicious?"

You're not buying a white van, so I'm not sure what you're worried about looking suspicious for?

Yes, it would be cool ?

Would $ 30k stretch to the M4? I think Mustang or Camarillo. They're not really girly though.

Post pics of your F150?

I'll extend my budget for fancier cars.

I like the simplicity of mustangs and camaros. I agree they ain't that girly, but I think the convertibles look much more girly.
