Well, I met up with a friend of mine on Friday and found out my ex is doing really badly. We broke up over a year ago now and he is also seeing someone new. But I guess is still a mess. His brother told my friend, "if he continues down the path he is on he is going to end up dead". I am really sorry to hear he was doing so poorly.

No I mean, I am happy for him if that is the case. I'm in a committed relationship as well. But I guess I thought my grip on Tarot was better than it was. If he was happy he wouldnt be drinking anymore was what I meant. I just want to know the truth of how he is, because they said he still had anger and bitterness over the breakup...?

I'm actually I'm a recovered alcoholic and being happy has nothing to do with the disease of alcoholism. And whatever he's bitter and unhappy about it has nothing to do with his relationship. He sees that you're in a relationship and he's in a relationship and he just feels that they are more compatible.

The entire 6 years we were together he hardly drank until the last year when he became unhappy with work, it was his escapism from his pain, I watched him come home from the bar blind drunk, go into our bedroom and play johnny cash while crying his eyes out and sending his boss texts about how he wanted to kill him. I wouldnt broad stroke alcoholism. He definitely drinks when he is not happy. We all knew this about him. When he is happy or going through a good phase in his life, which was the majority of our years together, he didnt drink. Escapism from pain, it was his vice...he would crumble and run to alcohol when he wasnt happy, sadly.

I guess I thought the cards confirmed that his brother had said about there being bitterness and anger about the breakup.

And for the record, a lot of people who are prone to numbing pain jump into relationships to try and move forward from pain. This was no clean break-up.
