Confused

For instance: my Taurus guy tells me that a woman with long fingernails is a turn off because he knows that personal hygiene can't be good if a woman has those long, long nails (please don't get hung up on that, that's just what he said & I'm using as an example). I personally don't have nails like that & he knows I don't have long nails. It confuses me because although we're in a LDR and he's the one that pushed for a relationship status with me & he knows I don't have long nails...why would he bring it up? It makes me feel a bit insecure that he's speaking that way....as if he's still in the selection process. I know it's a very shallow topic but I'm trying to figure out what's behind it, if there is anything. He's very particular about many things that are turn offs to him...he tells me about them in such a way like "if a woman did such & such...I couldn't be with her" Any insight as to why he does this? I guess it's making me feel insecure because I'm just waiting for him to find something about me that turns him off. And with us being in a relationship, why does he say "if a woman did such & such..."? It makes me feel as though he's still "out there". Does that make sense? P. S. I'm a Virgo.

Dont worry so much. Have you guys met in real life?

Not yet. We're meeting this month or next although we video chat & talk every day on the phone. I realize that's not the same as real life. Any insight? I do tend to overthink things.
