Possessiveness; A Learned Trait or By Nature?

My husband, a Taurus, is possessive. EXTREMELY POSSESSIVE. When we're out in public he always keeps a constant form of physical contact. In his eyes, there is a big stamp on my forehead that says "V's PROPERTY, DO NOT TOUCH FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY". He's always been like that with me ever since the age of like 10.

Fast forward about 30 years and he I are married with twin boys born on May 3rd. Oh joy. Right now, they're 3-years-old. They both like food, comfort, routine, hugs, kisses, you know, all that Taurus stuff. They're also starting to become possessive over us (me and my husband) but especially me. God forbid they see me make any kind of physical contact with my husband. Cue the tears, shoving, and biting. I give both my kids an ABUNDANCE of attention both together and alone. (I even cut my hours down to 3 days a week)

This got me to thinking. Is possessiveness a learned trait or is it bred into the Taurus nature?

Most of the time, possessiveness, jealousy, and control all stem from insecurity or fear of loss. I can understand my husband, 34, being like that because of his background. (He was adopted into a fantastic family and his mother SMOTHERED him to death) But what do 3-year-olds know about insecurity? I've never given them a reason to feel insecure, scared or worried.

If you are possessive, where does it stem from? Do you have a fear of loss or is it embedded in your Tauran nature? Have you always been that way?

Taurus says, "Mine!"

My bff has a Taurean toddler and an Aries infant. Based on what she's told me about their personalities, they're almost textbook.

I think that Taurean possession is rooted in a sense of security. We're collectors of things...and people. Once we've given ourselves to you or welcomed you into our world, that means a lot to us. It means that we trust you, we desire you...we want to put you on our trophy shelf in a glass case.

With that said, where we may seem like we want you right by our side at all times, there are mitigating factors. The truth is, at least for me, I don't want my elements of security all up in my face! I don't want/need someone doting over me all the damn time. I need space...to BREATH! I need my freakin' alone time, but you can blame that on other parts of my chart.

So, I think for some of us, yeah, we need you right "there" no matter what and for others, we just need to know that you will be "there" no matter what. For the latter, boundaries will be tested. If I take two steps and look back and your ass has flown the coop, well you can bet green money that the next time I catch you, I'm locking your cage...or some other crazy shit like that 😛
