This is all I know from experience (I've recently learned these or discovered them):

Have passions, hobbies, thoughts, and feelings, and stay true to them (and your beliefs and convictions) even when the man doesn't agree to them or believe in them himself.

Have curiosity about the world, be excited to learn, re-think, and re-invent yourself.

Push your comfort boundaries and don't live in regret, pettiness, resentment, pettiness or fallacies.

Argue about intelligent and exciting things, compete and don't let him win but always be gracious and admit when he's right or has made a valid point, and laugh and smile.

Give but please also take.

Be respectful, especially when asking for a favor (you're never entitled to one) or when offering suggestions on how to make you happy.

Be genuine. Be kind to others. Be forgiving. And be vulnerable. Also, be okay with doing art on one side of the couch while he works on figurines on the other end. 😄
