"La Fenice" Opera House in Venice - to see La Traviatta. Last minute tickets. The hurried walk through darkening Venetian alleys, my girls navigating cobblestones in heels. The clamor in the lobby. The old men in tux's shouting for their wives- "tempo undare". The wine. The chatter, the frescoes, the carvings. The orchestra tuning (my fav. sound)..Then the lights dim and sweet, sweet Verdi fills the room. Closed my eyes and drifted off the planet.
