How to help my friend's self image

I have a muslim friend who is an immigrant . She moved to the united states while in her teens. She doesnt say it outright but she has self image problems, she'll look at blonde haired blue eyed girls we both know and think they are the epitome of beauty and class even if they have dirt for personality and values. How do I prove or show to her that she is beautiful herself (she actually is) despite not being the same race (she's indian/brown skinned) or image as this person?

Keep in mind tv images and current culture is not really hospitable for her, especially with the situation in the middle east, terrorism, war, etc?

Support her or try to push her to excel in her talent/skill. Once she gets appreciation/recognition from other people because of her talent, her self image blossoms.

Self image is way beyond physical appearance.

That is fair, maybe she is fortunate then, in a sense. I will work on a common goal we have like sagsagsags suggested and see how it goes from there, assuming it works out, the rest should fall into place.

OK. For sure she has to come to some realization about herself. I can try to facilitate this, but ultimately she has to do it. I think a lot of it is culture and reinforced by culture and some of the external group she is surrounded with (not her family), so changing from that scene can help.
