I've become addicted to them!

Whenever I'd have an urge to shop but wanted to keep spending to a minimum, I'd just head there. I'd get my fix and I barely spent anything doing it.

Now they've become my first stop when I'm looking for clothes or any specific odds and ends. Any time I'd need a dress for some occasion, I'd hit up Goodwill first and usually was able to find what I was looking for and spent no more than 10 dollars on a dress.

I've gotten all of my work shirts there as well as some awesome neck ties. Mint condition. I actually find quite a lot of name brand/pricey clothing/purses/wallets at two locations that I frequent because the surrounding areas have affluent communities.

Recently, I found a 3/4 length suede coat that's sold at Nordstroms for $ 200- $ 300 and got it for $ 8.50.

It's the fun in finding things like that that make it semi addicting.

Anyone else a sucker for places like this?

Ugh I am so with you on this, looooove thrift shopping.
So many positives, high returns, low cost, and something about the funny smell in those stores.... Does something to me 😄
And of course, if you spend there- it's going towards something really good for others and you can recycle your own clothing, just drop it off clean and ready to go, somebody else less fortunate benefits too!
I live in a very affluent area too, the brands and items are as new or barely worn and of course ridiculous prices I mean how can you go wrong?

Eh, I wish I had a thrift store with a bunch of nice things, but the one closest to where I live doesn't get all that much good clothes that I like

That'd been my experience prior. But like I said, these are in areas where people have money, so a lot of nice odds and ends turn up.

Yeah, though I know Goodwill has some... interesting things going on behind the scenes. :/

Do you have a Retique in your area? It's a Goodwill with the "cream of the crop", if you will. It's where I go if I need something in a pinch so I don't hafta hit up a few others just to make an outfit.

Never heard of it. We just got one locally called "Value Vintage." That's one of those where the clothes are all kinda meh, but the odds and ends you can find there are kinda cool. The owners are really weird though. :/ The first time that I went, they kicked us out despite having another half hour til close.
"Oh, it's been raining all day and we haven't had that much business so we're closing early." Uh, okay.

thrift stores and antique stores. the ones with a hundred vendors and tons of antique/vintage. it's like a pirate's hoard at those malls??_ treasure everywhere. a lot of it for 2-3 bucks. i could stay in there for days just admiring all the old hand crafted things from decades ago.

if you've never been into one of these treasure troves, and if vintage/antique/shabby chic is your thing... i highly recommend seeking out one near you.

i've always gone to thrift stores my whole life. it becomes 2nd nature.

it's my mother who has introduced me, and my sisters too ---to LUXURIOUS things, like going to big name department stores and expensive perfumes. I never buy it for myself. My aunts, ect have always given me very expensive perfumes, designer stuff. I always feel very guilty for buying anything close to it even if it's half price. I feel it's wasteful.

i love finding the most expensive, luxurious brands at thrift stores for 80% the price it originally is. but i don't go anymore because i already have too much stuff. I accumulate material things too fast.
my mother is bad at it, she's worse than any of us, then i saw my aries/taurus moon sister be WORSE, or maybe they are the same. *smh* they have hidden things that they forgot they have. Like a brand new 200 dollar purse never used. or a pair of 300 $ $ pair of shoes that were hidden somewhere in the garage. they're crazy. You can buy a purse for 10 $ $ easily at any drug store.

Yeah, it really depends. I went to thrift stores ages ago before I'd moved back here and wasn't all that impressed. But then again, it depends on the area, really. The locations in areas where the socioeconomic status is a bit on the low side will provide crappier results in these stores.

These that I frequent have a lot more quality/gently used items because there's more money/people in the area. Some days are a bust, though.
