Crazy experience at JFK-I literally felt THE FEAR. And where's ya'll security?!?

So on the way back from upstate NY we had to come through to catch our flight to London from JFK. We had a major delay and they put us on a morning flight. Around midnight we headed to the BA terminal, it was pretty dead as first flight check in opened 4:

A black man screams
so he must be a threat.
He must have a weapon.
Fast, call all police on it.
Discriminatory reaction.

Its tooooo much, jesus christ!!! Can we all just get over that part. My god if i'm talking to a mixed crowd in UK I wouldnt get this reaction. WTF is up with the people. The sensitivity is OVERBOARD. The whole issue with race will never go away when people respond to it like this. I was giving a descriptive picture. Get over it!!!

Although I don't like guns as they are not a part of the society I grew up in and were never needed, in UK i'm glad to say at airports we have armed police.

security is tight at heathrow. at stanstead & particularly luton - less so; and luton that's a terrorist hotbed.

not to minimise your feelings but nothing about this story suggests armed police were needed.

Security was required. There was none. "It then lead me to thinking...." I think I said that cant see right now. Not that my experience required but the situation got me to thinking.

Dont want to sound inconsiderate because i agree that situations like this are unpleasant, but it looks like your thought process and what you imagined as a possibility was what made you feel even worse and more terrified.
To me, it seems you have over-exagerated what happened in reality and that is mostly because we, in our western society, live in some kind of a bubble.

In reality tho some people are crazy, not polite, doing drugs, disrespectful and etc. We live with these people and sometimes we become these people for someone else. Nothing abnormal about it.

And when you compare your situation with the experience of a young british lady in India where she was raped by everyone on the bus she took your reaction seems hilarious. And again, i dont criticize you. Im just changing the perspective trying to blow the bubble.

No worries. I absolutely get what you are saying. No big deal to most folk. But when a big guy comes at you, clearly on drugs, in comprehensive, shouting, threatening and very angry, in a generally quiet, calm, controlled place such as an airport-yeah I was pretty caught off guard. He was 6ft, on crack, and didn't give a trtrk where who ot what. I thought my bf was about to get into it with him and sorely lose coz they dont feel butter aswell as their power being amped right up. I had the fight or flight reaction. Sorry to hear of the young British lady. There is no comparison besides that initial fear-something horrendous was carried out towards her. We walked away because god knows what took his eye. I'm not at all trying to downplay any awful situations that others have been through. Just reflecting on my feelings, and the total lack of security.

Yeah, i also dont want to downplay how you felt. Im offering a perspective that might be benefitial when reflecting on your feelings.

Right now im reading "When panic attacks" by Dr David Burns and one of the factors he points out as the main source of anxiety and panic is exactly how we think and percieve everyday situations. We dont have a direct control over our feels but we can control our thoughts and indirectly affect our feelings ^^

I'm not sure how or why the physical color of the man, who seems to also be a crackhead, is in the post, but jfk seems like a breeze.

Lol at least you are travelling through a place where you and others around you are able to understand each other to a good degree and you are not judged for being the color you are.. There are places that dislike seeing foreigners in their airports to the point of misleading information, unwarranted frisking, to actually treetrunking up their flights- and these are people who work for the airports.

Lol, the fact I mentioned it was because he was shouting at my bf-due to being white that it was him (black guy) that actually put Trump in his current place. Not meaning to rustle any sensitive feathers around here when it comes to colour. I could care less myself what colour a person which is why I talk about it with ease. Shaming it and sensitivity towards it will never lead to overcoming. It will go on and on. But again, racism isn't something i've grown up with so maybe i'm ignorant towards how such a big problem it is in the world.

Drugs seem to be the bigger problem from what I've seen- no singular race or color immune. So a person can very easily become... Just a crackhead.

True. Ok maybe I am too descriptive. Lets settle for that. I tell it like I seen it. There is no racial malice in my description of the dude I should have inserted. Apologies.
