Hey everyone,

I know this might be a silly question, but it's really causing me a headache.

Here's the story in brief: I love psychology and I am an engineer. I'm just passing the first year in my career and I'm not sure if this area will be the part in which I will shine! (I would not settle for average or just above average)!

I went to engineering mainly because I thought that it is a more stable and rewarding career, over what my passion is (I thought maybe I would keep it as a hobby). Anyways, I feel lost and don't know whether to continue in my original path or venture to something entirely different. (stability vs. passion)

I don't know if this experience resonates with anyone, but would be glad to hear your feedback.

Money is something you should always be weary of...
Psychology is definitely not going to be a money maker typically... without a Ph.D. anyways...

In life you must be practical no matter what it is you love. however, if you seriously are not happy, don't see yourself ever being happy as an engineer and you could except living off of half your income now and be happy with that... then I'd say do what makes you happy.

My dream job turned out to be a nightmare. A stable career would benefit me more. The things I like to do are better left as hobbies.

But for you it sounds like dream job might be the better choice. Before you throw the baby out with the bath water, find out if it is possible to find other niches in your current field first.

Yeah, this seems like the best approach at the time being. Before venturing into something new, at least eliminate all the possibilities within the field first! Thank you for that πŸ˜‰
