I am in the process of compiling a manuscript and I am at the stage of getting ready to submit to a publisher. I need to know if anyone has any tips.
Did you hire an agent? Was that a good experience? Did you have your manuscript edited more than once? What did your proposal letter look like when submitting to editors? Is there anything I should avoid?
Yes, I have 2 published works. You first want to find a publisher and editor who is in your genre. YOu don't want someone reviewing your written work if they don't understand the concept behind it. I was lucky enough to have a connection to get mine works published (plus I majored in Journalism). Don't be hurt if you're rejected 1, 2, 5 times. There are a lot of people out there competing for the next spot. I would suggest hiring an agent to do the leg work for you and contacting the many publishers/editors that cover your genre. They will typically charge a 10-15% commission, but you still pocket 85-90% of your sales.
girl, girl, little ol smart me, i am working on many things to publish now. I was going through the same thing you are. I loaked up and found a guy who told me the secrect. Check your PM and don't tell anybody i said sooooo. shhhhhhh lol
I will advertise and post here once it's all said and done
