As some of you know, I've been having lots of trouble with a very distant Aqua man. We finally spoke today and got a LOT cleared up, which is good. However, something he said is REALLY nagging me. He went on and ON about how mindblowingly amazing he thinks I am, blah blah blah. He's still into me, no doubt. However, he said that right before he left Florida in late October to go home, we had a conversation in my living room where I "painted a circle around him" and basically told him we were together and what he could and couldn't do. That was a blatant lie because that conversation NEVER HAPPENED. However, he based his entire ensuing awful behavior on this imagined conversation. I told him that never happened and I never said those things, and he said he could play it like a movie in his head. He said thinking I wanted to box him in made him internally bolt and externally back off. I KNOW this conversation never happened because (a) the day after he left, he explicitly told me he wanted to make plans with me and essentially try to keep things going, and (b) About two weeks later, we had a phone conversation during which I told him if he wanted to date other people, that was up to him and I wouldn't tell him not to. However, I needed him to let me know because I didn't want to stay with him if he was going to sleep with someone else since I'm not wired that way. Most importantly, I told him RIGHT BEFORE that statement that I had meant to discuss this issue BEFORE he left but never had the chance. Why would I say something like that to him if I had already placed such an awful restriction on an Aqua?? I did my homework on Aquas and NEVER in a million years would I have dictated to him what he told me I said! I even purposely deflected when he just joked about what our "status" might be a few days earlier. My memory is like a steel trap and I'm not going crazy, Why would he make up an entire conversation like that? To justify backing off at 100mph and ignoring my calls/texts for six weeks? I've heard conflicting things about the Aqua penchant for lying, but this...it's a huge bucket of cold water on me. If I start to believe he intentionally made up that conversation to make me look like a tyrant bent on locking him down, what else will he lie about or invent?
