Scorpio is known for being acutely aware of life cycles (birth, sex, death) and having an interest in the dark side, and I'm anecdotally curious as to whether my passion for the mysterious is shared by other Scorpio Risings. I love true crime, especially following a link trail on the Internet, finding more and more about not only the crime, but the background of the perp and victims, and sometimes movies based on it.

I also enjoy mystery novels that are completely fictitious and I do watch horror films, but I prefer them to be "smart horror" that is more psychological or supernatural than gory, though I will admit to carrying a torch for some of the slasher flicks from my early life, just because.

I wonder if this is common at all amongst Scorpio Ascendants, or has more to do with my intellectually curious Gemini sun.

Also could be a combo of the two, being a curious type and applying that curiosity to darkness or death, because of the Scorp Asc.

My Cappy Bf is Scorpio asc AND Scorpio moon.
Yowzer!
He LOVES true crime, currently investigating for a screenplay he is writing -so much sleuthing and documentation of facts it's unbelievable (drugs, sex and rock n roll/violence storyline)... has a huge collection of horror movies, played a rapist/ murderer in a local play couple of years ago, and speculates about other peoples darker side of human nature all the time... he connects the dots quite well I might add.

I can relate to these qualities. murder mysteries, murder cases, first 48 hours, csi. I especially enjoy movies that are 'based on a true story', I'll go home and do my research to see how much was actually true and how well it was portrayed. Then again I enjoy documentaries, too.

I've been aware of milestones in my life from a young age. I came into my conscious mind pretty early on; I can remember things as far back as age two. I've been plotting my life ever since. 😄

I feel in tune with the reasons why things are the way they are as if they were planned before my current physical existence. At times I can sense why someone is "here, today" as soon as I meet them, or who came "here" on accident at any point in time. I've told various family members how and why we share a life now. I feel it with such conviction, plus I'm Aries in the mouth so the words fall out exactly as it comes to me. *shrugs* I spent 4 years dwelling on my last relationship as to why things happened the way they did, how things fell apart, what could have been done different, etc. Not to salvage anything, but the order of things didn't make sense to me. He passed away this year, instantly everything made sense. As if all of a sudden the Ts were crossed and the Is dotted themselves. It made a perfect picture. Now I know why things had to happen the way they did, but I've yet to know what it was that put the picture together for me.

I can sense when someone is about to pass away. Some people I've never met. Some people on the other side of the world. **I think my pluto placement has a lot to do with half of these things i've mentioned as well.

I am excited by all the responses I'm getting for this!

You know as far as serial killers, it's not only them, but actually just general true crime, especially unsolved mysteries or bizarre crimes. Theresa Knorr is an example of a bizarre crime, and I'm not sure she's a serial killer though some people call her that. She killed two of her teenaged daughters, in an apartment, in Sacramento. A year apart. I guess that makes her a serial killer, but she had three other children, two of which (sons) who helped her, and a daughter who apparently who was not old enough to feel her wrath (bizarrely, prime motive seems to be sexual jealousy of their youth, though neither daughter was involved with or molested by her bfs or husbands, and she sold at least one daughter into casual prostitution to make money for the family).

Zodiac is fascinating to me too, because it was always unsolved.

One of the patterns that I've picked up in watching this stuff, though, is that serial killers "troll" for victims (and trolling is also an Internet term used for people who are sometimes playful but sometimes psychologically sadists) and with people such as Theresa Knorr or the BTK killer, they managed to pass themselves off as acceptable, living in normal neighborhoods, not in rural areas, not isolated, not alone, not without family, etc.

That is the creepiest shit of all, that these people simply walk among us, sometimes manage to evade child protective services and other forms of social supervision, and that OTHER PEOPLE sometimes collaborate with their crimes or defend them as being a lovable or likable person.

I'm a lot like SwimmingLioness that I love tracking down the facts, I don't admire these people in any way at all, I just find it interesting to study them.

And like caliberquick I sometimes get creeped out or have lingering fears, like when reading about the Cabin 28 murders in Keddie, CA, which were never solved.

And like LadyAries I noticed this interest early on, in pre-school or about kindergarten age watching Agatha Christie mysteries on PBS while my grandmother was sleeping. Voluntarily. Like it was awesome.

Also like LadyAries I feel like something beyond simple circumstances is involved, something supernatural, something that seems planned beyond physical existence, a doorway to ...something. I also feel this way when physically viewing actual crime scene photos.

i almost said i couldn't relate to the curiosity in mystery, but heck no... my scorp asc shows itself in my lifelong (and beyond) quest to understand spirituality.

i have a lot of reverence for religions and spirituality. it was a few credits shy of being a second minor in college. the biggest mystery to me is what happens after life. no mystery can be as almost within reach but severely out of reach as religion and spirituality. and not just in the realm of our solar system... but i believe that the whole universe has a role in our spirituality. i think in understanding our universe better, we'll be able to know who we are on our little ol rock better as well.

it's a difficult subject to be interested in and broach, yet that adds to why it completely draws me in. because of the sensitivity about the subject, the controversy, the hypocrisy, the history, the development, artifacts, relics, the following, the traditions created, the wars, the lives spent and wasted in the names of all religions, everything religion and spirituality has both *taken* and *given*... all of it adds up to its wonder for me.

i think if we understand the full scope of our spiritual function and capability, we'll understand our purpose a million times better. and my scorp asc, cap sun, pisces moon gut tells me we've only scratched the surface as far as what we "know"

i revel in this mystery. without it... why?

yes, interesting, I'm very interested in spirituality too, and by around age 13 or so I felt that my interest in things like horror movies or the paranormal, and now even my interest in non-paranormal factual true crime has something to do with my quest for understanding spirituality; I feel like somehow I can't understand the human soul or what's "out there" without connecting to death and also embracing the dark as well as light side of it; like to me religion is just a starting point, and that a person can even be spiritual without being religious.

Like I can tell when I'm looking at a photograph of a real dead person. I can tell when something is staged and real. Like looking at true crime photos, or even photos of natural disasters or like stuff like on Wisconsin Death Trip (pics of people in caskets who died natural deaths, no crime or anything) ...it FEELS different than looking at a "fake" dead person in a horror movie or fake picture.

What happens before, during, and after. I like the way you put the last part. We are to the universe as raindrops are to the ocean. - james allen

I continuously think about how differently one person can see something from another person and what the reality of the situation is. My mind will take things almost out of proportions and uproot it from solid ground. Reality is perely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one. - albert einstein. The whole 'do you see what I see?' breakdown.

ahhhhh... lady aries... yes! that whole different perspective on religion is EXACTLY what made me start questioning it and digging into it deeper. If things are to be one universal way according to any single religion... then how can we all feel differently about it or perceive it differently—

Marmot... I'm also really interested in things like ghosts, paranormal, sleep paralysis, out of body experiences, astral projection... all that crazy weird stuff hard to explain and will make you look nuts to anyone you talk to about it. Arent they considered occult interests? I think so.

I like to claim I'm a skeptic sometimes, but I've experienced some stuff that really rattles my comfort with reality as im used to it. i try to leave myself open and maybe a little vulnerable to that kind of stuff because i want to know more, but I have to admit... it's effin scary!

I am a Scorpio Ascendant, and I can say yes to liking the darker side of life. I even look at gore sites from time to time.

My boyfriend does that too. He has a Scorp Rising. He enjoys watching fights as well.

My Pisces Asc cringes at the mere thought of that shit lol. 😛

Love y'all though. Definitely the sexiest ascendant in the entire zodiac.

xoxxo

Yeah I like action films (fighting) too, but they have to be "high brow" action like Drive, Old Boy, Sympathy For Lady Vengeance...I just wonder if I have the Scorp Asc need for connection to life/sex/death and the darkside, but I'm snobby about it being "psychological" bc of being a more mentally focused Gem.

I don't like to see people fight IRL unless I think the person in question has done something clearly ethically reprehensible.

(ISFP, Fi doms are very concerned with ethics.)

Yay, yeah it's the occult, but I separate myself from people who are like "oh I am a Satanist" um no I am not a Satanist, I am not a witch, I am just interested in the "other side" of life and death, and I think there's something, like an order to the universe, and I aspire to understand or experience it I think, ever since my teens.

It makes me rattled and uncomfortable sometimes, too, but on the other hand I also feel like it's stuff I "need to know" to be a wise person or a more mature soul.

I just take breaks, I would never surround myself so much in darkness that it strangled me or made me feel helpless, I think that's unhealthy. My Libra ex used to do that sometimes, like I felt he was TOO integrated into what was dark, and no he is not born close to Scorp sun cusp or anything, and I don't think that's healthy. It can affect your own health if you're that submerged into it.

I think he also has a lot of Scorp in his chart other places, though.

I want to learn from it, understand it, but not be destroyed by it.

He actually had more Scorpio than me, even though I'm an Asc. I would think the Asc would be more powerful, but maybe in "lesser houses" by sheer quantity—

Venus is in 14 Degrees Scorpio.
Your feelings about others are deep, powerful, intense and complex. When you like someone, you do so totally and obsessively if you do not like someone, they do not exist. Your faithfulness and loyalty to your lover is unquestioned, indeed at times it is too much so -- you get so possessive that you almost smother your partner. At times, your feelings are kept deep within you and, because they are so complex and intense, they frighten you -- this is the way that you try to ignore them. But the more you try to do this, the more explosive things get when you eventually do express them.

Um...yeah...boy howdy.

Uranus is in 06 Degrees Scorpio.
You, and your peer group, demand to confront life at its deepest and most meaningful levels. Very compulsive and obsessive in your approach to everything, you will avoid anything that is casual or superficial, especially when it comes to relationships. You will seek out and explore new methods of healing as well as different ways to deal with deep-seated emotional problems.

N. Node is in 03 Degrees Scorpio.
You have a special aptitude for working by yourself, or with a like-minded group of dedicated individuals. Once you've committed yourself to a person or group or project, your loyalty and devotion are total until the group's goals have been realized. Not at all gregarious by nature, you're uncomfortable around strangers, greatly preferring to be in known and familiar situations. Others may regard you as shy or eccentric, but those who know you well are aware of the intense loyalty that you have to your friends.

He was born in the morning though...his mom was really sketchy and approximate about his birth time, I asked her directly, so if she was a little bit off (she says around 8 am, but doesn't remember the exact time, I'm sure she was in pain and on pain killers) but if he was born closer to 9 am than 8 am, just a 45 minute to 1 hr difference, then he has Scorp Asc, just like I do, plus Scorp in Venus and also less impacting houses.

MAYBE THAT EXPLAINS HIS INCREASED DARKNESS.

I have Scorpio rising (Gem sun) and like mysteries, but I'm not into murder stories for their own sake. I'm more interested in the psychology of the perpetrator and the crime-solving methods used (especially lie-detection techniques). My husband is a Scorpio sun, and I think the main reason he likes crime stories is for the gory details, although I've never actually asked him.

Yep. I stay watching the ID channel and am similarly attracted to serial killers and murder stories, etc.

My friend's are all "omg how do you watch this shit at night? I'm scared to walk to my car"
What they view as negativity...I view as intriguing and educational.

It's funny how intrigued I am by darkness...it's so the opposite of my Sag Sun traits. I am not at all dark myself. & I'm really not as brooding or mysterious as I come off to people. I'm quite bubbly and upbeat actually. Huge contradiction

Yes. yes. yes. I have an insane memory. Even stuff I overheard that I wasn't supposed to hear/know.
I have said things to my parents before...like recounting a story...and they just look at each other like "what.the.fuck." cause they felt like there is no way I remember that...yet I do apparently since I can replay it in detail.

I've only ever seen death coming once...and it was incredibly disturbing...but I can relate to seeing the big picture, and almost understanding why things had to happen the way they did.

Instead of sensing death, I sense new life. I can almost ALWAYS tell when someone is pregnant before they tell me, or anyone else often times.
