Are similar placements good/bad?

Is it generally good or bad for compatibility if you share a chart similar to someone else's?
Does it depends on what sign they are? Like, would someone with a lot of fire have a bad relationship with someone who has a lot of the same placements, etc?
Also, compatbility and relationships are meant in the general sense and not necessarily lovers.

I was pretty excited to find out my Taurus friend has the same placements as me from our mars down to our asc. node.
It makes me really curious to find out more about him. I wish I knew his ascending sign. It'd be pretty awesome if we have the same sign in that.

This may be a common sense question, but can you please enlighten me as to what you think about this? : )

I can't give an informed opinion on this topic, but I feel like the strengths would be reinforced and the weaknesses exacerbated. Even if two people only have the same sun sign, this is usually the case.
