Squares are not necessarily bad. Sometimes too many tribes and boring and feels more like a friendship than angering.
I'd be interested to know if your mercurys are compatible. That's how you communicate with each other. If there's no tension there you should be able to work through any "bad" aspects in yor synastry.
Synastry isn't so cut and dry.
