Ascendant really = Earth Placement

Earth's a planet too...
It would obviously have a gravitational influence on us just as any other planet and arguably the strongest one.

Why is it not considered a placement in astrology.

Just because astrology is a geocentric discipline and not a heliocentric centric one, doesn't mean we should disregard it or the ascendant as not a strong placement.

This particular blog and site has some interesting views I always questioned about the exclusion of the Earth in the study of astrology. The writer seems to feel that earth fits as the ruling planet of Libra rather than venus although to me it would seem more of a Earth sign planet. But, his points to earth being a place of socializing and diversification have their merit I suppose.

He also tries to put the ruling planet of Virgo as the Planet X a newly discovered dwarf planet around 2010-2012.
