Aspects....not by degree in synastry

What are your thoughts on aspects, eg the opposition by sign only and not within the 8 degree orb?

Would the effects still be notable, for example Venus in Scorpio 5 degree opposite the other's Mars in Taurus at 16 degrees.

It is a difficult question, Star.

The only way to get an idea is to find synastries with certain aspects by sign and ask the question: did they still feel it (whatever the connection was supposed to feel), even if way out of orb?

For example, Gem ex and I. No interactions -by orb!- between personal planets! None, nada! Yet our moons were in the same sign, and so were our Mars. Our Venuses were trine by sign. Mars sextile Venus double whammy, by sign only. We had interests in common and were very compatible sexually, intellectually, emotionally. Connected well and confessed a lot of things to each other. Declared love to each other.

We had a lot of bad synastric orbs between almost all outer planets and personal planets though, which may explain why we only lasted two years. Still friends, also there is some resentment there.
