Earth & Fire or Earth & Water?

I'm curious to know which is a better/more compatible paring of these elements? My Cancer bf and I recently started hanging out with a couple, quite often, a Sagittarius woman and a Virgo man. Now, I know that my bf and I are supposed to be total opposites, but personally I think we balance each other out very well.

This other couple is not like that at all, even though I would consider this pairing to be opposites (or almost) as well. The Sagittarius woman is extremely bossy and nit-picky towards the Virgo, and he just lets her step all over him. They also cross boundaries with each other that I would never cross with my Cancer. I find this couple's dynamic really interesting. They also moved very fast in their relationship, which I can definitely see with a Sag but not so much a Virgo! I guess it depends on his other placements. But they had only been together a month or something like that when the Virgo decided he was moving hours away for work (not moving anymore), and she said she would come with him.

What do you guys think?

I never even took it in that they are both mutables! That's definitely interesting. Of course, I don't know every intimate detail about their relationship, this is just from hanging out with them for the past month or so. What's the verdict for 2 mutables? Good match? To me it seems that right now they're still in that honeymoon stage so the Sag's bossy behaviour doesn't affect the Virgo too much, but that over time the Virgo man's pent up emotions will explode. But, the fact that they share the same quality could be the reason why things moved so fast and they clicked right away.

I'm totally not comparing my relationship to their's as a way to determine how great my relationship is compared to their's. I just think they're an interesting couple, and am curious to know how Fire and Earth work out. But you're right, Tiz, that Chinese Astrology is good for elemental relationships. I was reading about it the other day.

Earth is neutral with air, mutable
Earth is attracted to beautiful things. Among Fixed, Cardinal, Water, and finding your own sign is really rare though. I get along with all bit different but different people bring different aspects to the others.
