Airbending is based on the Ba Gua style of Kung Fu. This martial art features swift, evasive maneuvers that evoke the intangibility of wind. Unlike other bending disciplines, airbending lacks fatal finishing moves, being an almost entirely defensive art.
Airbending is the most dynamic and versitile of all the bending arts. By using circular, evasive movements, Airbenders build up massive inertia; this is released as air currents to distract opponents. It also allows for wind-based counterattacks that knock them off-balance, mimicking the sudden directional shifts of air currents. Attacks vary from simple gusts of wind to minature tornados and cyclones. A common defensive tactic is to circle enemies, suddenly changing direction when attacked and deflecting as needed by throwing up gustd of air as a shield. Airbenders enhance their movement in battle, and can run swiftly, jump high and far, cushion falls, and even sprint along vertical surfaces, all by conjuring gusts of wind, creating cushions of air, manipulating air currents, and decreasing wind resistance. Master Airbenders can create vortexes to entrap and disorient opponents, as well as massively destructive whirlwinds.
Airbending is very swift and precise. It is has trouble withstanding Earthbending (as when King Bumi fought Aang). Air seems strong against Firebending, however, as too much air can blow out a fire. Airbenders often combat other elements by deflecting them with bursts of air - perhaps this is difficult to do to earth.
Fire:
Firebending is based on the Northern Shaolin style of Kung Fu. This martial art features quick, ferocious attacks that evoke the uncompromising danger of fire. Unlike other bending disciplines, firebending has few defensive moves aside from blocking and dodging.
Firebending uses concentrated barrages of fire to overwhelm opponents before striking a fatal blow. Swift, whirling kicks and punches generate diverse shapes for offensive attacks: from rings and arcs to missiles and fireballs.
Firebender discipline stresses self control and breath control as a means of directing and containing the fire manifested. Poor self control means dangerously poor control of any fire generated.
Firebenders use their internal body heat as a source of their bending to "create" fire. This facet of Firebending is in sharp contrast to the other bending arts which manipulate already present representations of their element, in fact being unable to bend without those representations such as Earthbenders during "Imprisoned" being helpless without dirt or stone. They also can control the intensity of their firebending depending on the color of the flames (red to yellow, yellow to blue).
Apparently, Avatar Level Firebenders can erupt volcanos at will and manipulate lava flows.
Firebending is the most aggressive of all four elements. If it were not for Sozin's Comet, the Airbenders would have probably been able to fight the attackers off and possibly end the war far earlier. Firebending is more than likely the most effective against Earth, and is probably the least effective against waterbending.
Earth :
Earthbending is based on the Hung Gar style of Kung Fu. This martial art features heavily rooted stances and strong kicks and punches that evoke the mass and power of earth. Unlike other bending disciplines, earthbending maintains a balance between offensive and defensive capabilities.
Earthbending uses sheer strength to overwhelm opponents. Common attacks involve levitating nearby earth and stone, and propelling them at foes by way of a punch or kick. A levitated slab of rock can also double as a shield when positioned in front of a Bender. Striking the ground with feet or fists creates localized earthquakes or fissures to throw opponents off-balance. Earthbending Masters can even turn the ground to quicksand to immobilize an enemy, or catapaul
I know of a couple Libra fighters that don't quite fit the description of air bending, Matt Hughes (UFC welterweight champion) and Rich Franklin (middle weight champ). Franklin fights like a firebender, in that he throwns very quick and strong punches that will quickly put you on your rear end, and Hughes fights like a waterbender, in that he can easily put you in a submission move (or is submission fighting earthbending?)
Really really cool post! I am an earth sign (both sun and moon with a water rising) and I do tend to overwhelm in an argument by sheer force. My Dad being an air sign is a typical change in mid-stream type and hates to be pinned down. My sis is an earth sign but fights like a fire sign. My Mym fights like a fire sign.
Very cool

I was involved in a relationship last year with a Piscean male, well it was all working out fine until he decided to say the Love word one month into the relationship. Btw his excuse was that it was the alcohol he had drank that night. Then a few week
