It was no smooth sailing though, I can assure you. Gay boy falling in love with a straight (at the time) guy never ends well. On his birthday last year I was ready to bash my head against the wall because I could no longer handle keeping my true feelings secret. I ended up missing his birthday party because I was in no mental shape to leave the house. Feels like a completely different lifetime because he didn't run a mile when I finally confessed - as I thought he would.
This year his birthday will be extra special, I'll make sure of it or die trying.
