I feel like my cancer man might be a momma boy

Those are the worst! Did it once , will not do it again.
In the beginning i would notice if we were out and his mother called, and she needed somethkng. We would stop what we were doing to go back and cater to her. Occasionally we would stop while out and pick up her favorite desert, or ice cream. If we had plans and she needed errands done, that was it . Our plans were ruined. I can go on forever. Never again. The min i notice the signs , im out. I can not and will not compete with someone’s mother.

Too much would be not having an original thought of his own and letting mommy dictate every decision he makes.
That was the case with me and a Cancer guy who used me as his guinea pig many years ago. It didn't last long. He kept going on about his mom having a problem with him being with a guy. By the end I was thoroughly disgusted by both of them and I was like "you can have each other". Because if he spent so much of his time thinking about his momma, then he was definitely not thinking about ME.
I saw them again a couple years later after I had broken it off with my Virgo ex, and she had allegedly turned a new leaf and they both tried to apologize and he tried to befriend me again. I was a lot less nice at this stage because I was freshly out of the hospital at that time, and I was like "oh I am NOT in the mood for you lot, just get away from me before I do something I really wanna do".
He was quite yummy but he's one of, if not, the lowest entries on my list.

Posted by FafaSometimes the effort is worth it IF the mother is in fact worth it. Jed's mom has ruined a few of our plans in her time lol, but to me she's a rock star. She's an awesome, strong, staunch lady and I pick up a few things for her once in a while to the detriment of our own arrangements. Like for example instead of saving the final 3-4 pieces of galaktoboureko for ourselves, I'll pass them onto her instead. Or the time she changed our breakfast plans because she invited him to an immediate-family-only breakfast first thing that morning.

But I do recognize how important she is to my boy, and there will be other mornings, other breakfasts. It's not a big deal. We do live together so it's not like I'm starved for quality time with my boy. The key is looking at the bigger picture and not letting trivialities get to you.
But if you don't live together and don't get to spend as much time with each other, then yeah you might have to draw a line because it can be awfully irritating.
