Longtime dxpnet creep here...

Since we are known as workaholics, wondering what everyone's career is and the pros and cons of being a Capricorn in that career is.

I'll start.
I'm a real estate agent.
Pros- I like the idea of being entrepreneurial. I like that income is unlimited. I like that I have my own hours to some degree.I like being my own boss. Did I mention I really like the idea of making unlimited income. Being someone's employee feels like being pigeon holed.

Cons- Pay can be unstable. Lots of money one month, not enough money the next month. To much competition in the NYC area. You really need to be charismatic, which doesn't come naturally for me. I'm not much of a bs artist either.

Overall I'm hoping my attention to detail and ability to keep up with previous clients and build a network will help me build a sustainable business.

Okayyy....

Lol.

I work fixing foreclosed homes...

Pros: I will always have work. I mastered many different fields so I never get bored doing different things. Make a decent salary.

Cons: I make everything into a positive. I see no negatives besides making more money. But that what side jobs make it up...

Maybe we should team up since where close to each other...

Homemaker. MC Cancer, previous jobs were always in service/care.

Pros - Reliable, responsible, seeing to that others needs get taken care of and don't get lost in other people's lofty ideals, selfish professional motives, laziness or fear of hard work. I'm good at earning people's trust so they open up to me and tell me what they really need and not what they think will make them look like less trouble.

Cons - I lack ambition, get overlooked, undervalue myself, overworked, take blame just to keep the peace and make sure that things that NEED TO BE TAKEN CARE OF, ARE TAKEN CARE OF, DAMMIT! Which means that if I'm the only one doing anything and one person can't do everything, then there's only me to blame, because everyone else were smart enough to keep their hands clean and go missing before the boss shows up!😢

that sounds a lot like me. I will take on everything just to make sure it gets done right. Of course others notice our get it done attitude an find a way to get out of doing their own work Smh...

I do medical coding working for an established facility, recently doing this from home.

Pros - There are a shortage of coders and with the change to a new national coding system, many older coders are opting to retire rather than learn the new system. Thus, a bigger shortage and more demand for my field. Working from home is an industry trend now, so no gas, more free time, more freedom and I can wear jammies all day. I like learning and having the medical knowledge because medicine is fascinating to me. They pay is pretty good and allows me to support myself easily.

Cons - The rules are constantly changing and there is a lot of pressure to be concise and accurate because reimbursers are constantly on the look out for errors and so eager to accuse of fraud. So you have to check several sources to make sure you're doing it right. Plus, reading medical charts all day is actually kind of boring and very routine. The con of working at home is there are so many temptations to keep you from being focused. Also, I worry if there isn't enough work and my production suffers because of this then they will think I'm goofing off instead of working.

Overall though, I'm very happy in my career choice.
