Would a better economy be enough to turn us around? What about gangs, violence, and selfishness?

Definitely, I am interested in why the economy rather than other important issues, and I am not saying it is wrong. Maybe we cannot do anything, other than improve the economy.

i wouldnt change a thing about the world. our planet is perfect.

the people inhabiting it though is another story... so therefore, i'd give everyone a sharp conscience and a pair of balls.

you know, so we all do the right thing.

You asked my opinion and what would I do. I said improve the economy.

Why?

Because don't you realize a bad economy is related and escalates everything else that is bad. Let me list just some: Bad economy leads to:

violence,
increases the suicide rate,
people don't get the helathcare and medicine they need thus chronic disease increases the mortality rate,
gives gangs and the mafia more power,
increases crime,
encourages the drug trade,
puts people at a disadvantage to their government,
gives people less power and less options,
leads to more alcoholism (yes alcohol sales increase when the economy is bad),
businesses close down since people are not spending putting MORE people out of work,
increase in unemployment causing more economic downfall,
leads to more spousal and child abuse due to fustrations over their family financial situation,
etc. etc. etc.

and I go on to make three pages on how the economy affects everything else. It is a vicious trickle down effect.

Hahaha... I do respect your answer... 🙂 ... my answer is build a society without selfishness, raise people on the idea to care for others first.
