Thoughts on the I Use description

Whenever I see the phrase "I Use" given to capricorns, my first instinct is to be offended because I always feels it insinuates that we use people, that we are users and abusers. Though we may be guilty of using some people at times (especially in our career path), I think there is more to this description than what is implied.

Capricorns know how to use their resources. Whether it be the internet, how-to books, a dictionary or encyclopedia, courthouse records, etc., I always tend to instinctly know where to go to find out what I need to know.

Also, as a capricorn, are you experienced in making do with what we have available? For instance, you don't have something you need, but you can figure out how to substitute something else to replace that item? I know a lot of other signs have no problem doing this and also, a lot of this skill is incorporated when you grow up in a household that has less than other people, so some of this is taught. But do you still find yourself "making do" today and not really minding it? Kind of like McGuiver skills.

On another thread, Tigercap, mentioned a capricorn would use the harpoon in a gun fight because that was what was available at the time, and I thought, yep, that would be the case. Made think a little deeper on the "I Use" topic.

Any thoughts? Or more examples you want to add to the list?

Capricorns "using people" is one of the single biggest piles of manure that I see perpetuated on these boards. I, and the other Caps I know, are the ones getting used in life in my experience. Other people (signs), take advantage of Caps because they know we play by the rules, are dependable, loyal, and hold our integrity in high regard. I even follow through most times when I know I'm being taken advantage of, simply because I said I would do something. Now I probably won't help said asswipe again, but I made a promise and I intend on fulfilling it.

Now THIS is truth! We are definitely "go to" people when in need, not to forget the people close to us that end up being enabled and crippled because we take care of so much!

Earth signs use people all the time. Not sure about Taurus because I don't have a lot of friends under this sign and they seem rather self sufficient.

Virgos and Capricorns have friends and then they have acquaintances with various skills they like to keep around just in case. An honest Cap/Virgo will help anyone in return but for some Virgos/Caps they only use, use and discard people when the gig is up. Or feign innocence, fake remorse and do it all over again.

I think it's true, but I would change it to "I utilize". We're good regarding opportunities and making things happen. I agree the description is riddled with loaded terms when it comes to interpersonal relationships...but it really applies across the board for us and the majority of the time it's nothing to do with that bs.

People go looking for it though and presto...that's what they see + that's what they find.

When we grab those opportunities, perhaps it makes us look like we trampled others on our way up?
I have noticed, we don't sit around and wait to be noticed or told, we just jump in and get to work.

Yes, we do for other people until we realize we are being taken advantage of. I agree with you in that we fulfill our duty. Then, when we don't want to do any more for them, we get crap for it, as if we just dropped that person like a hot potato.

I don't think I blatantly use people. Now, I might be a little nicer to someone that could benefit me in the future, but I don't purposely set out to use them. I wouldn't discard anyone unless they did something to deserve it. I'm good with people until they do me wrong. Once that happens, it might appear that I threw them aside.

Yep. And if we're gold diggers then I need to find my shovel. I've given way more to people than I've ever taken. As a matter of fact, call it pride I suppose, but self-reliance is my middle name. I'd starve to death before I asked anyone for anything. Now we can debate if that is wise or stupid, but it's certainly not the qualities exhibited by a gold digger. I believe other Caps are the same.

Also, truecap, correct again on your 2nd point. I'm brutally honest, so much so that I hurt people's feeling at times. I wish I didn't, but I give it like I like receiving it. No punches pulled. Down and dirty. Some people really like me, and some people really don't.

Maybe we just network so well, that higher ups like our work ethic and want to help us or just offer us the promotion out of our good works. That they not only see us using our resources and thinking on our own merit, but they also see us helping other people and notice our leadership skills. Then other people like to speculate as to how we get the promotions.

I like recieving feedback bluntly and directly as well. Down and dirty as you say. If I'm doing something wrong, then tell me.

I'd say it veries my previous comment that, if you are a user, you know exactly what you are doing.

Now, not questioning capinc here, but I do have a problem with how his comment was defined as far as "using".

"Exchanging information" is not using in any for or fashion. Exchanging itself implies "sharing" or "trading". That means both parties are benefitting from one another, hence no one is being used. Perhaps I'm just nitpicking semantics here, but I digress.

I think I might've answered this in a past incarnation. I apply it as I make do with whatever and make the best of it.

I do this too.

When I was a little girl, my daddy refused to get me a car for my Barbie. I thought Barbie needed something to ride around in, so emptied out the kleenex box and my Barbie drove around in a box. Making do with that box solved the problem.

Anyways, even now, i just make do with what I have. Whatever works, works.

What Capinc is talking about sounds like typical networking. I think that's what people who network do typically.
