Help advice on taurus-gemini cusp

So met once over 6 years ago, I briefly dated a friend of his. Recently he seemed very interested messaging me been about 2 weeks since started chatting. He was very flirty and interested, now he has backed off. Asked if we could be friends because he is going away with work for 6 months and his grandad is dying. He wants to date once he is back. He has asked to meet up next week and has messaged saying he is looking forward to seeing me. Am I reading into this too much because I am a very logical person.

Thank you for your detailed reply. I don't tend to rush into relationships until I know someone on a deeper level. We speak over text every couple days but he has stated he is not someone who is on his phone much due to work commitments and wanting a life away from technology. I really appreciate you're honest advice and will take it on board. Thank you 🙂
