shy gemini? does that even exist?

hey all,

im new to the gemini board and was wondering if any of you could shed some light for me. i recently met a gemini guy while i was on vacation about a week and a half ago. we met at a club when one of his friends came up to me and said "my friend likes you, you should talk to him." myself, being a leo sun sign and gemini moon looked the kid square in his eye and quipped "what are you, mute? you had to have your wingman over here come and talk for you?" he apologized for his friend and told me that the club wasn't really his scene and that he was actually quite shy when it came to approaching women. nevertheless, he seemed like a nice enough guy, so we continued talking. by the end of the night, he bought me a drink, we danced a little, and we ended up exchanging numbers, although we were both leaving to go back to our hometowns the next day (he was on vacation as well). since we've been home, we've been texting all day everyday about anything and everything. he's even mentioned coming to visit me or vice versa... which would all be fine and dandy except for one thing... when given the suggestion to pick up the phone and call me, he NEVER does. sure, he can text me paragraphs and paragraphs, but when given a text saying "hey, im running out of texts, so if you want, call me later," he's never taken the initiative. he'll basically text me later on or the next day as if i had never made the suggestion... now pardon me if im wrong, but i thought that gemini's were huuuuuge conversationalists. i thought him to be so when i met him in person. also, me being a gemini moon, i am quite the chatterbox myself, so i don't really understand what his deal is with the phone. essentially, it's the same thing as texts, the only difference being you could hear the person's voice and you don't really have time to think about what to say. is he just shy, or is it something else? i'm pretty old fashioned, so i wouldn't want to have to be the one to call him, especially if I'd suggested that he call me so many times but to no avail. currently, i reminded him that i went over in my texts for the month and that if he wanted to chat he should call me (either that or wait til my month was up). He wrote back "Ok 🙂", but i received no call today and don't know if i ever will... im used to guys being very assertive when it comes to that stuff, so this is totally new to me. tell me gems, what the hell is going on and what would you do if you were in my position?

i was trying to figure out his moon sign, but since i don't know his exact time of birth, it's between 2 signs- leo or virgo. judging by his actions, i have a strong feeling that he's a moon in virgo.

anyway, what you've all said makes a lot of sense. the night we met, we got to talking about relationships and he had told me that his girlfriend had broken up with him 4 months prior. you're right, he could be trying to get over her through me or may even still have her around. i guess it's just safe for him to flirt/talk with me because of the 3 hr distance- hence, im not a threat. i've come to a decision and im just going to see if he calls me this week as ive asked him. if not (or if he just resorts to another text message), i'll take it as a sign that this will never go anywhere and move on. thanks again for your input!
