Venus in retrograde in a birthchart?

I was reading my partners chart and he has his sun in cancer and venus in gemini but it says it's retrograde. In fact just under half of his planets were in retrograde...

Would this have an affect on his venus? I don't know much about gemini in venus to begin with so this is even more confusing 😛

Any help or direction to sites would be much appreciated.
