Basically we have like two flaps on the sides of our mouth which should be fairly flat.. I'm not exactly sure what they are or if they're like a gland or what... Anyway, sometimes they get enlarged which isn't usually a problem as they deflate again within a day or two.. but the one on the right side of my mouth has been inflamed for three months now because I played with it (big mistake)ever since I got a couple of infections.. and its beginning to worry me, it doesn't seem to be budging at all..I've already tried lemon juice as I read it helps but nothing, and now I think the one on the left side is beginning to get inflamed too 😐, I want to know please what these flaps are and if they're a serious threat to future health or fairly harmless, and also any possibilities why it isn't going down? . oh and some advice on what else I can do to try and get it to go down would be much appreciated too 🙂

Another thing I should probably add is because I suffer from anxiety symptoms and hypochondria, my worry often makes it feel like the insides of my mouth are swollen when they probably are not as I had this checked out.. I don't know if anxiety and me not being in the best mental state is also contributing to it not going down also. even though this could be simple it is only natural for me to assume the worst :/ like I had previously suspected I'm in the early stages of salivary gland cancer or something

I am going to the doctor.. But the thing is I live in the UK where healthcare is free for all so service isnt particularly good and they dont do much.. I have to wait weeks for an appointment at times and in terms of symptoms things could get a lot worse within that time.. Also yes I hope it is anxiety, I dont really think I need medication for it though as its still there but gradually going.. Its a lot better than it initally was
